When I was a nanny for a 3-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl - this place made for a wonderful way to spend the morning or afternoon. There are activities to suit all sorts of ages, interests, and abilities. You can find something great to do on each floor. The family I nannied for had a membership - which I would recommend (to get for your own family, or as a great gift idea for friends with families of their own). The museum is so interactive and fun - and interesting! It was a great place to take the kids, particularly if I had run out of clever and creative ideas/activities for that week. We would bring lunch and picnic inside their cafeteria, and finish up with some playtime on the playground. Fun!

I'd suggest calling ahead to check and see if there are any / how many school groups may be visiting that day. If your kiddos don't like crowds, I'm sure the staff would be able to help you figure out a relatively mellow time for you to visit.

Thank you for sharing your review of our museum. We love our river-front location and adjacent playground in the park. The playground will be getting a major makeover in 2015 so it will be even more fun for kids.

We walked in and after 10 minutes decided to become an annual member. They are always having special events like the mini maker faire.

Thank you for giving us a 5-star review on Trip Advisor. Purchasing an annual membership is the best deal around: for just over $100, you get free admission all year round plus access to our special events. Dover Mini Maker Faire will be back on August 23, 2014 ... we hope to see your family then!

Raining at the beach so took the family up to Dover for the day. Great find and had a wonderful time with 3 year old and his parents and family. Everyone got to do something fun from weaving to playing the musical wall to exploring the mind control games etc.
Best 3 hours of fun especially for the little guy.
There is a nice playground out back to unwind in and to sit and eat lunch by the river-good kids meal at the Riverside Diner just out back and a short walk.
Parking is free but watch out for the tiny signage before the bridge (in front of museum) or you'll wind up going around the town of Dover a few times!
Would go back again......

The Children's Museum is a great place to spend a rainy day with the kids. The exhibits are engaging and interactive and there's something for all ages. The top floor area for really little kids is awesome because it's totally enclosed and 100% kid safe so you can let your kids go and just hang back, relax, and watch. The only thing that's challenging is that the parking isn't really very convenient and there isn't enough of it.
