“Charming setting - good meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

If you're looking for an old-fashioned New England environment where you can get a great meal, this is the place to go. The tavern is located in the basement of the Three Chimney's Inn. The old brick walls and wood beams are exposed, which make for a charming setting. We have tried their fish tacos, lobster ravioli, orichette, and salmon salad and were pleased with all of them. The prices are reasonable and the servers are attentive and knowledgeable. Not the place to go if you're looking for loud and fun but definitely a great option for a romantic dinner or quiet night out.

“beautiful tavern”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

We stayed at the Three Chimneys inn for a night. We decided to go downstairs for a light snack and a drink before going out. We were so pleasantly surprised as we stepped back into time. The tavern is beautiful, stone and exposed beams. Gail our bartender was very personable telling the stories of the inn. The clam chowder was excellent too!

“Class of Durham”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

This is a 4 star resturant with all the charm you can ask for. Downstairs or up you will find a menu with lots of great choices, and a decent wine list. Stay at the Inn and make a weekend of it.

“Love this charming tavern”

We love the ambience of this tavern. We wish they would bring back the lobster mac and cheese. It's the best I have had!

“Great lunch, charming atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

While staying at the Inn (on a rainy day) we opted to dine in, and were very pleased with our choices for the Half n' Half (Sandwich and Soup or Salad - $10). I ordered the house Clam Chowder (creamy, clammy and a great smoky mushroom flavor), Turkey & Swiss ("real" turkey breast with a hint of skin, not shaved deli meat) and my husband raved over the Grilled Cheese with choice of Ham and the soup of the day Tomato with vegetables. We also enjoyed the charm of the 1649 Inn's Copper's Café and the accents of the elegant women lunching beside us.
