Set in the quiet and picturesque country town of Exeter, the Inn used to be owned by Phillips Exeter Academy, which dominates the town. Thankfully, it is now managed by a hotel group, Hay. Rooms are very comfortable and sufficiently roomy, although they have been decorated by a cushion fetishist. The décor attempts, unsuccessfully, to imitate an English country club, but tries too hard, with clashing carpets and soft furnishings. The restaurant is good - the best in town - if a little pricey. Prices are very reasonable.
