My friend and I were traveling the East Coast without reservations. We happened to find the Exeter Inn on an Internet search through tripadvisor. What a lovely treat! From the staff, to the room, to the delicious food, we could not have been happier. We had THE best lobster roll of our coastal Maine trip at the Exeter Inn. And breakfast was just as high quality- the blueberry stuffed french toast was excellent.

Carol D,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us recently. We are so pleased to be the recipient of and considered a “treat”. We have an extraordinary culinary team who are dedicated to providing the highest freshest quality food possible. 99% of everything we do is made from scratch right down to the desserts. We purchase a lot of products from local farmers and cultivate our own herb garden for the freshest food possible. You had my favorite stuffed French toast! We are so pleased to have been of service to you and hope to see you again soon.

I recently stayed at the Exeter Inn for two nights while in town for a business trip. The pictures of the property do not even do it justice! It is so beautiful and within walking distance to downtown Exeter, where you can find adorable shops that line the streets. We arrived late and were so excited to find that they have freshly baked cookies at the front desk each night. We were very impressed at the cleanliness of the Inn and the extremely friendly staff members. It was very convenient to walk down the next morning for our conference in their large conference space. We had an amazing lunch as well which was prepared by the Inn's restaurant. Overall, the experience was great and I am looking forward to future trips to Exeter so I can stay at this property again!

Ariel F,

On behalf of the staff thank you very much for your wonderful review. It is our very good fortune to be walking distance down tree-lined street in the historic district of Exeter, NH founded in 1638. Our local shops evoke days gone by and offer a variety of fun and unique gifts and services. The cookies are at the desk and delivered for turndown every night! I know the staff especially our dedicated, talented and hard-working housekeeping team will be very pleased to read your comments. I will be certain to pass them along. Thank you again for your kind words and we do hope to see you again very soon.

Our first visit to the Exeter Inn met all our expectations and then some. Our room was completely satisfactory with very adequate but not overwhelming space, a very comfortable bed, and good light for reading (a rare amenity nowadays). The only drawback was a bathroom so tiny that one had to slip between the toilet and the sink to close the door! But having got used to that, everything was fine. The bar and dining room are beautifully appointed, drinks are generous, and the food is delicious, beautifully prepared, and served with class and style. Among the specials that night was an outstanding gazpacho. Upon my wife's mentioning how taken she was with it, George, the general manager, asked sous-chef Ben to visit our table to accept our compliments. He promised to keep some for us for the next day's lunch, and was as good as his word. Lauren and Julie behind the front desk were warm, welcoming, gracious and brilliantly helpful. We will make this our go-to accommodation whenever we're in Exeter.

mmwc,

Thank you for taking the time to share your most recent experience with us. I am delighted that we were able to meet and in some cases exceed your expectations. We were so pleased you enjoyed the entire facility including our exceptional restaurant. I will be certain to pass on all your accolades to the staff. I know they will be pleased. This is what we all strive to achieve every day. We look forward to your next visit - perhaps in the winter when can try a hot hearty soup? Thank you once again, your comments were most kind and very much appreciated.

My boyfriend and I had been feeling pretty stressed about the fast approaching purchase of our first home. So we decided to slip away for a night.

I booked it through Priceline and I'm never sure what kind of place you'll get. The pictures were nice, so we arrived expecting something so-so.

This place is gorgeous! I mean...it's so beautiful inside and out. If you're looking for something historic, comfortable and well kept then this is the place for you.

The front desk staff was friendly, but my boyfriend and I couldn't help but LOVE this sweet housekeeping lady who was fixing up our floor. She is the reason we will keep coming back.

The rooms were small, but not suffocating. They were clean, comfortable and the bathroom was very nice in all-white. Maybe not ideal for a family, but this was perfect for a couple.

We definitely believe that there should be a "Frequent Exeter Inn Flyer Card".

Thank you guys!

StaciaC86,

Thank you for your immensely delightful review. This is the level of service we strive to attain every day. If we contributed to lending a little less stress in your life then we have achieved one of our many goals. I will be certain to share this with the staff particularly Lorrain, who was the woman treating you at turndown. I'll have to noodle that "Frequent Flier Exeter Card" a bit but truly appreciate the sentiment. We hope all is well and if your stress levels rise - we're here (though we invite you to visit anytime!) Until then, all the best.

Stayed five days for a conference, enjoying the close proximity to the center of town, the congenial staff and quality appointments. Quiet building--it had a lot of people staying in it while I was there, but one could hardly tell. Easy decision to stay here next time I come back.

Stayed here the weekend of June 13th. It is within a 10 minute walking distance of the train and downtown, so did not need a car! The room was very cozy (Standard queen) but quaint. Shower and water pressure were strong. The TV had a ton of channels, much more than a standard hotel.
would stay here again. Has that quaint historic New England charm.

LGBT Friendly, as well.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep with the windows open, ask for a room facing the back.

tsc401,

Thank you for you for taking the time to write and share your experience. We are very pleased yo found everything to be of your liking. Beyond the obvious charm of the Inn I am glad you mentioned the close proximity (walking distance) to downtown. Located in the historic district of Exeter, it is a beautiful leisurely, stately, tree-lined walk to the quaint shops of our historic downtown (once the Capitol during the revolutionary war for a period of time). We look forward to being of service to you again, when travel brings you back to the seacoast of New Hampshire.
