“Good value, convenient location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2011

The hotel is only about a year old so the rooms are still "new". The location is convenient to local businesses and the the (quaint) center of Exeter. The exercise room is ample however the location of the TV vs. the cardio equipment is awkward (bring your ipod). The layout of the breakfast area is a bit cramped, and not easily maneuvered. Perhaps it was an exceptionally busy morning, but the trash cans were oveflowing, and the there were no clean tables.

This is a new facility, well maintained with friendly, helpful staff. All the expected Hampton Inn travel amenities. Bathroom has a modular granite top sink with full service products. Modern Hi-Def widescreen TV and wireless and wired internet service. Good breakfast facility, well stocked.

I came to New Hampshire to see the sights of Portsmouth, but the sticker shock I experienced while researching its hotels made me look elsewhere for a place to stay. Portsmouth is lovely, but it does not warrant lodging rates that approach Boston’s or New York’s. So I landed on Exeter, specifically the brand-new Hampton Inn, which is much more reasonably priced. The hotel is an easy drive from Portsmouth and is very close to Exeter’s own charming stretch of restaurants and shops.

The words “Brand new” and “reasonably priced” are always music to my ears; and this place fits the bill perfectly. The lobby area is handsome and contemporary. The room was great, with comfortable beds and a flat-screen TV. I also applaud the free wireless and the higher quality fitness equipment in the small but adequate exercise room. I don’t care about the free breakfast, but those who do will probably be happy with it.

My only negative is that the building is set close to a commercial road that connects the town to a highway. This means there’s a fair amount of traffic noise, especially from motorcycles. It didn’t keep me awake, but light sleepers should ask to be as far in the back as possible. The welcome guide in the room describes the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, which is all well and good, but I suspect this is the reason why, though the thermostat gives the option of having a constant fan, the feature was disabled. Due to the traffic, I wanted white noise in the room, but it wasn’t possible. Not a deal breaker, but it’s worth noting.

Room Tip: Way in the back is probably the quietest option.

When I'm in this area this is my go to hotel. Very nice rooms, modern decor, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and the coffee is always hot.
Very nice hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room towards the back, Portsmouth Rd can get noisy.

We stayed here for an overnight and can't say enough nice things. The hotel was clean and seemed very new. The staff was so friendly. I want to thank the management for giving us a late checkout. Given our purpose for the stay I wouldn't have been able to check out before 2pm. Breakfast was good, coffee great. The room was spacious as was the bathroom. Flat screen LCD TVs with everything you would want for cable channels. The hotel was quiet. I hope the folks in nearby rooms weren't disturbed by my 1 year old crying as he went to bed (he wanted to stay up!). Temperature in the room was good and easily adjusted if needed. I would definitely stay here again on our next visit to NH. Lobby was inviting and the decor was very modern (as were the rooms' decor). Easy off the high way, grocery store nearby. Microwave and fridge, plenty of drawer space, and wifi! It is a very nice Hampton Inn. Not a grand vacation resort if that is what you were looking for. For an overnight, perfect.

It's new , clean, comfortable, quite adequate. It may also be bland and predictable, a typical Hampton Inn, but it's the best choice in Exeter -- trust me, I've tried them all.

The Exeter Hampton Inn is fresh and clean. The rooms are standard. Ours had a nice view of trees...fourth floor, back and away from the parking lot. Staff was pleasant. Breakfast was fine for a free option. Sunday morning offerings included sausage, pre made cheese omelets, hard boiled eggs, French Toast sticks, and the usual muffins, cereal, waffle mix, bowl of melon and yogurts. Exeter is small, and there are not many choices for dinner, so this Hampton is a little isolated from other traveler supports! But the hotel itself is nice, safe and above average.

Room Tip: High floor, away from parking.
