We set out to Canon Mountain with the intent of taking the tram ride before it started to rain...we were not so lucky but glad we made the trip anyway.
When we boarded the tram we were probably with 25-30 other people and there was plenty of room. The tram operator was knowledgeable and warned of bumps and noises to keep people at easy as we began our trip up the mountain. He spoke about the bears in the area and we even stopped to look at one bear below the tram line eating berries (at least that is what the tram operator said she was doing!).
The views on the way up were wonderful and the ride all in all was very smooth. A little bumpy as we pulled into the upper tram station we we were well warned to hold steady ourselves and be prepared for some light bumps.
During the time we were at the top the clouds moved in and out a few times and as we walked the rim trail and climbed the observation tower I dont think we could see more than 100 feet. EVEN STILL IT WAS WORTH THE TRIP AND THE WALK. Just to walk along the trees on the rim path was an interesting experience and revealed scenery that you would normally not get to see.
The ride down was equally as beautiful.
We had the misfortune of riding down with few people from a bus load that arrived right before us. Based on their behavior in line, we waited for the next tram up to avoid riding with them. Unfortunately, on the way down we could not avoid them - just a little obnoxious but not enough to ruin the experience.
