We found this place to be clean, comfortable, and with friendly innkeepers. We arrived at a difficult time, on the heels of a storm and during a power outage, but they very graciously tried to accommodate us or find us another inn. We chose to stick it out and they soldiered through preparing food and looking after everyone despite all the problems caused by the storm.

They did have some difficulties accommodating a special diet. We had communicated thoroughly about it in advance, however Pauline had forgotten when we arrived and when reminded about the email exchanges, responded that she could not be expected to remember so many emails, but she would figure something out.

Breakfast was at 8, not 7 to 9, or 8 to 10, but at 8 (well, you were told 8 but the food might not all be ready at 8). You could sleep in til 9, if you like cold food (and no one to ask what is gluten-free or dairy-free as they are not marked and might or might not be available). The innkeepers were not always available or reachable, which was at times a problem when we didn't know if we could continue staying due to power outages and such. We were not offered use of a fridge or microwave, though when asked they did store my leftovers. For the price, we expected a little more accessibility, service, and flexibility (such as breakfast time).

I give it high marks on the property, room, bathrooms, location, comfort, and friendliness of owners. If you want a quiet, out-of-the way place that is nevertheless convenient to tourist attractions, restaurants, etc this is a great choice. But if you have different priorities (willing to sacrifice nature and ambiance because you'll be out sightseeing all day anyway) I would say check out the local nice hotels like the Hampton Inn, as you might save money and have someone to contact 24/7 plus longer breakfast availability. The towns in the area can still be lovely and quaint, they are not just strip malls and freeways.

Room Tip: Traveling as a couple, we would have preferred a king bed with desk and closets or other storage options, and didn't realize we would instead have a room mostly taken up with two queen beds and just a shower rather than a bath. Make sure to elaborate on what kind of room you prefer if you are/aren't traveling with a family.

My husband and I recently attended the Scottish Highland Festival, a three-day event in Lincoln New Hampshire at Loon Mountain. During our visit we stayed at this delightful Bed and Breakfast in Franconia. Upon our arrival we noticed, in their sweeping, beautifully groomed back yard a very large black bear, lolling in the sunshine. Far enough away to be safe, close enough to the edge of the woods to make a hasty retreat if anyone made an appearance, this impressive visitor seemed right at home.
Each of the next two mornings brought visitors- early Saturday morning a small group of deer, and on Sunday morning, a flock of turkeys. There is a large, comfortable back porch where we enjoyed our breakfast each morning. Against the back drop of the beautiful White Mountains, it was just remote enough to be peaceful, but close enough to the highway to make our way to Lincoln (about a 20 minute drive) for all the fun.
The common room is spacious and the breakfasts generous and home made- our room was immaculate and charming and provided a wonderful view. The bed was extremely comfortable! Everything was just as we hoped it would be. The hosts were friendly and engaging and were thoughtful enough to send us a thank you note after we arrived home.
We will definitely consider returning next year.

Room Tip: There are three guest rooms. Ours was just as it appears in the photos on the website, so I assume the other two are as well.

This is a wonderful place to stay. When we got there, we were the only ones there. There was a sign to make ourselves comfortable. We made ourselves comfortable in our room then sat out on the back deck and took in the wonderful scenery. Later Tom and Pauline arrived and were so friendly. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast was very good and Tom had good suggestions for sightseeing. We took his advice for a drive and it was wonderful.

Pauline & Tom are excellent hosts, they think of every creature comfort and then some. Like starting up the wood fire stove before we woke up as it was chilly in the mornings, making us dinner reservations (and advising on the restaurant options in the area), and alerting us when there was a black bear on the property (! but far away from the buildings, as the property is quite deep).

Of course the usual amenities were present in the room like flat screen TV, large & luxurious bathroom, large bed with cozy bedding, etc. And the location was just slightly away from the town so that it's very close (a two minute drive) but quiet, very close to Franconia Notch.

My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!

We stayed at the guest house for two nights and it was great. The house is so unique and cozy, the property is beautiful and the owners are very friendly. Pauline makes a great breakfast, everything is fresh, right from the oven. Tom and Pauline are so welcoming, we are deditely coming back to see them. Thanks for everything
