“Fantastic sandwiches in a shop with a huge collection of hot sauces.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013

If you are looking for a good hearty sandwich at a great price, just stop by the Island Chef. Don't expect this to be a quick stop, though, as the shop is full of interesting foods and hot sauces, as well as interesting gifts from the region. It is worth the walk around while your sandwich is being prepared. Make time to enjoy your sandwich as well, as they are worth your consideration.

“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2013

Delicious freshly made sandwiches at a great price. Easy enough to find if you are looking, but would not have stopped without it being pointed out by our innkeeper. Very glad we did. Had a wonderful chat with the owner as she made our food to order in that 50s-deli sort of service you just don't find any more.

Will certainly stop in each time we come to the area.

The store behind the deli area has an incredible selection of hot sauces as well as a plethora of other foodie items.

“Consistently good!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013

Have stopped here numerous times for a sandwich and to browse the unusual products sold. Today we shared a Cuban - absolutely delicious. Also shared a whoopie pie - a bit too much sugar in the filling made it a bit too sweet. The owner is very friendly. It's always pleasant to stop here.

“A very pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013

We are in this area frequently and until recently never stopped at this unassuming little place. I am so glad we finally did! It doesn't look like much from the road, which is very close to Attitash ski area and other local attractions. Inside is a pleasant surprise. Homemade, delicious food, a fun little gourmet food and kitchen supplies shop, and a friendly and a helpful owner/chef who clearly takes pride in what she does. Starting with the sandwiches, it was so hard to decide because each one sounded amazing so we settled on two to share. First, the Cuban. Wow! Crispy, warm, and oh so good! We also shared one I can't quite remember the name of it but it's similar to a Thanksgiving sandwich... fresh turkey (not the deli stuff), stuffing, cranberry sauce. That too was absolutely delicious. The breads each came on were fabulous as well. We didn't try the soups, but there were several varieties and all homemade. There are also sweets for dessert. I can't wait to go back to try other menu items!
