“Great Location & Price”
Reviewed 17 June 2011

If you want a central location, low price, and more room than most motels, the Tides is great.

The room was clean and had a mini fridge, microwave, air conditioner, and flat screen.

However, no coffee maker or ice machine on the premises. Also, our room was not cleaned each day although we stayed three nights.

Overall, what I expected from a beach motel at an affordable price. Great for a group of friends, or families that don't mind not having a pool.

Came for the seafood festival like we do every year. We checked it out the year before and met the owner( who seemed like a decent man). So, the following year we booked our room. From the moment we arrived, he was rude and insulted us repeatedly. His attitude was not right for a business man. He seemed to prefer foreigners and made reference to it. He spoke another language right in front of us, you knew he was making derogatory statements about us to his other guests right to our face...then he told me that he was a member of the chamber of commerce, etc... Well I wanted to report him but just wanted to forget the whole ugly experience. WE are not dirty, rowdy, or rude and I don't appreciate being treated badly. Think twice before you consider this place.

Went to this motel for the first time, my wife and I had a great time here. The staff was very nice and pleasant. I had no problems with them at all, if we needed anything all we had to do was ask and they try their best to accommodate us.

It does not have a great view of anything but it is only a block away from the beach. The rooms inside were cleaner then most of the other motels I have been to. It has a affordable price.

First, I want to say I agree with one of the previous reviewers - you probably could do worse than the Tides Motel. The rooms are spacious and the front desk staff is friendly. It's only a block from the strip, but there is no view. Parking was great and traffic noise didn't seem to be a major problem. Wi-fi was available but didn't seem to work when we tried to use it.

That essentially takes care of all of the positive things I could say about this place. The interior was well-worn, which isn't a big deal, but it is obvious this establishment certainly does not emphasize cleanliness. Like another reviewer, I too uncovered my sheets to find they were dirty (stained). There was a hole in the bathroom wall next to the toilet and I didn't bother to look at the tub to see what condition it was in. I also found a used sock in the drawer next to the Bible - God knows what purpose that was used for. The highlight of our stay, however, would have to be the screaming and yelling from the room next door. The rooms are very poorly insulated so you can hear people walking above, couples fighting, etc. In our case, we were unfortunate enough to have a highly enebriated couple scream, fight and attempt to have intimate relations next door. It was so violent and loud, we were tempted to ring the Police at one point. This isn't necessarily the hotel's fault, but it is indicative of some of the types of patrons they may have on occassion. When I complained about it, they said they were regulars and never had a problem with them. I would beg to differ. In short, this hotel has all the makings of an ideal filming location for a horror or snuf film. After staying here, I'm actually not surprised that one reviewer's daughter found a needle in the closet. I would personally avoid Hampton Beach alltogether and stay in a town or two up the road where you can rely on a decent chain establishment. Or at least, unlike myself, do some research beforehand and not stumble into town late in the evening only to pick The Tides Motel.

After doing quite a bit of research about hotels in Hampton Beach, we decided on the Tides Motel. What we liked about the hotel was: great location just a block from the strip and the beach, free parking directly in front of our motel room door, quiet stay, very large room, good customer service (we requested a light bulb and extra pillows from the friendly staff), and the price! It is probably one of the better values in the area. What we didn't like: the room was clean, but not thoroughly clean, the inside of the shower curtain was disgusting with dirt, there were no overhead lights so the room was dim, one light was broken, the air conditioner rattled, and the curtain in the bathroom was very dirty and likely circa 1990. We did enjoy our stay though--for $120 a night, it wasn't bad, and i'm sure the other motels in the area are comparable.
