The Hillcrest Inn is completely disgusting. The place is horribly dirty, old and smells like mold. Anyone with a shred of dignity or pride shouldn't stay there. There were beer caps left under the bed, ants crawling on the fridge, and the carpets were blackened with filth. The whole place smells like stale beer and cigarettes, the staff are incompetent and you're given a very narrow and shallow parking space two blocks away from the hotel. This means you will have to carry your luggage down the street and up the greasy filthy stairs to your cramped filthy room.
No "Do not disturb" signs, awful beds make for a disgusting stay that only a pig could tolerate.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!!!

We rented 3 adjoining rooms for 3 nights. We had three children from 2 to 7 years old and one 16 year old. The hotel's sparkling clean heated pool and and the playground across the street helped make it a fun vacation. Great location right in the middle of the main drag. A short walk to the Wednesday night fireworks display on the beach. Always something to do. The hotel is a bit old but clean and the friendly staff cleaned the rooms daily and supplied fresh towels and wash cloths. The bathrooms are very clean. Some have showers only and some have tubs also. We stayed here last year as well. The new owner is very accomodating and friendly. There was complementary coffee and fresh cookies in the lobby every day. It is also located above one of the best reataurants at Hampton, Mama Leone's.

Room Tip: Most rooms have balconies but specify a balcony room if you want one. The pool is accessed from the...

Many Reasons I will never stay here...

-the hotel and staff messed up our reservations that had been made for a month and a half
-not only did they mess up the reservation they overcharged us for a room that wasnt what we had booked
- Rooms were gross and they smelled awful
- beware if you wan't to be able to spend your vacation with your family, we clearly stated the amount of people we were in an email we sent them and then.... We get a knock at our door to tell us that 2 of our family members have to leave (they were watching on their creepy cameras that follow your every move on EVERY FLOOR )
- then proceed to tell us we have to book another room for the other 2 family members, after telling us originally that they had no more rooms available hence the reason we were stuck in a room we didn't book to start with...
- rudest hotel owners I have ever met, trying to take advantage of people and their money and lying right to your face as their doing it

This is a hotel in need of a lot of updates. That being said, it's in a spectacular location. Close to (across the street from) the beach and even the Casino Ballroom if you are going for a show. Our room was clean enough, but the patio was scary. Everything was covered in flies, and the patio furniture didn't seem to have ever been wiped down. Like, ever.

Small bathroom that was clean enough, not immaculate but nothing outwardly filthy about this place. Same deal with the room itself.

1. Mix up in reservations! Paid for a room with two queen beds and a balcony. Got a room with 2 double beds & no balcony. We had reserved and paid for three nights.

2. I came with my new vehicle (1 week old) that is worth a pretty penny. I was very disappointed to learn that we had to unpack our vehicle by parking illegally on the side of ocean boulevard and cross the crosswalk with each load (there were 6 of us). Furthermore, the parking space for my nice new vehicle was two streets down :-(

3. Reserved for a room with 6 people. The room we got was small, smelled musty and had items behind the bed and fridge left by previous visitors (feathers, dental floss, etc.). The Wi-Fi wouldn't work (grrr! with teens). Being 5 hours away from home, although very disappointed, we decided to try and make do with the room just the same.

4. Two hours after we checked in after watching us enter our room (on camera) we get a knock on our room door telling us that two of our kids have to leave because they only allow 4 people in the wrong room they gave us.

5. The owner's solution: charge me for an extra room for the first night & considering that they had no extra rooms for the second and third nights he wanted us to leave the next day. As far as $ is concerned, he wanted to keep 2 of the three nights money that i had paid for the two rooms night one and wanted to keep the other night for his inconvenience (what!!!! We were the one's getting our vacation ruined)! = $650.00 for one night in the Hotel from hell!!!!

6. The staff were rude, aggressive and a little creepy with their numerous cameras spying on people!

7. At 9:00 pm (while some members of my family watched over our room and belongings) others went searching for another hotel where we could stay as a family for the three nights.

8. At 9:45 we found an amazing hotel that made place for us! We moved out that night (under watchful eyes) and moved into our new hotel. I had to argue with the owner to only pay the first night (with their return / reimbursement policy in hand stating that they can only keep the equivalent of the first night).

I don't advise people to stay in this motel!!!!!

We stayed for 1 night and the Hillcrest was right across from the beach with a ton of things to do within walking distance. The parking spaces are around the corner from the building. The rooms are small but very clean but we weren't in the room other than to clean up and sleep so it was perfect. The bathroom is tiny bit once again, clean. Some rooms have private balconies but all can enjoy the long porch on the front of the Inn. I would stay here for a longer period but would want a room with a balcony. You can't beat the location!
