Myself and a friend had booked a room at this hotel for 3 nights. This room was advertised as "a queen ocean-view." When we arrived at the hotel, and went to our room, we discovered that the ocean-view was a 6 inch wide window overlooking an alley. The bed was a full-size. We had gone to ask the front desk staff if there was a mistake in our room. She stated that there was not. She offered to place us in another room, but we would only be able to stay in that room for two of our 3 nights as it was booked for the third. We decided that it wasn't worth swapping as we planned to spend most of our time out of the room.
Once back into the room, we discovered a dirty bathroom. There was toothpaste all over the walls. We then noticed dust covering the headboard and lamps. Again, we did not comment about it as we were planning not to be in the room much.
Upon going to bed the first night we discovered that the TV was not working. We went down to the front desk for assistance. It turned out that the room only had one extension cord with a 3 prong adapter. This gave us a choice of the fridge or the TV. The remote also wasn't functioning. The desk staff sent us back to the room with an additional extension cord for the TV. Following this, we were also given batteries for the remote. We had to prop a box up against the cable cord to keep the screen from being fuzzy. Once all of this was taken care of, we went to get settled into bed. Upon turning our sheets down, we discovered a dark stain that ran down the center of the sheet from head to foot. We went downstairs again, to obtain clean sheets and complained to the staff that this was not what we were expecting when booking this room. He stated that he was not able to refund our following two nights because it was a weekend and management was not here. He came up to the room to change our sheets for us. While he was removing the dirty sheets on the bed, he exposed a large dried blood stain on the mattress pad and left it there!
We asked him to notify management in the AM (when they arrived) that we would like to speak to them regarding the condition of our room, as we did not plan to stay here the following two nights.
We then contacted booking.com (where we made these reservations) and asked them what we should do. They contacted the desk staff person and were told that management would not be in until morning.
In the morning, booking.com contacted management, and then told us that the hotel would refund our following two nights only if they were able to re-book the room. We told booking.com the this was unexceptable as we were not provided with a clean hotel room. In the end, we were informed from the hotel that they would refund our two nights, but we had to be out by check out time at 10:30am (they called us at 10:26am)!
Upon leaving the hotel, I asked to speak with the manager. We informed him of our complaints and asked him to come to the room to show him. He was unwilling to come to the room. He said that they refunded our money and we should be happy. He told us that he has been in "the business for 14 years and takes pride in providing clean rooms." He refused any type of apology and walked away from us in the lobby. I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone!
