Breakfast menu is very small. Seems they do not like to stray from the limited breakfast menu. Egg scrambler was some what cold. Toast was good and so were the home fries. Server was nice. Wait for food was long. Not many other people there at 8:00 on a weekday.

The waitress was very friendly. We went there with high expectations but after getting our meals we were very disappointed. My wife had some seafood dish that was obviously prepared on the plate that went into an oven for an extended period of time. Rubber scallops was the result. My son had the kids spaghetti and meatballs which was fine. My dish was a disaster. I ordered eggplant parmesan. It looked nice and the outside was hot. The inside was as cold as the water. I had to send it back. Did they give me a new one? Nope. It came back 2 minutes later. Yeah, they microwaved it. Amazing. 17.00 for a microwaved eggplant. They saw nothing wrong with it either. Never again!

Mama Leone's is a beautiful, Italian restaurant right in the middle of the strip in Hampton Beach. We go there for dinner every year on Wednesday evenings, before the fireworks. You have to either find an available parking meter on the strip or a parking lot at least one block from the restaurant and pay $15 - $20. We paid $20 and walked 10 blocks. This is the primary reason why we would not eat there unless we were spending a large amount of time on the strip. There is typically at least a 20 minute wait and the restaurant is always packed. From the street, it does not look that impressive as the restaurant is basement level, but the interior is surprisingly pretty, with stained glass lamps hanging over each table and white lights throughout. Even the bathrooms are pretty, with stencils and heart cut outs on the wooden doors.

We were warmly greeted, given a number and went outside on the sidewalk to wait for it to be announced as the waiting area in the restaurant was already standing room only. The menu is primarily Italian, with a few fish entrees. I wish that there were more options for people who do not eat beef or pork. We had the chicken parm, which was a huge portion of two breaded chickens. The baked haddock was tender and flavorful, but was a bit heavy on the bread crumb toppings. A warm loaf of bread was included with the salads. Service was fast and friendly.

Ok, so Mama Leone hasn't change the decor since the big bad old 80's....but hey- the food is decent and the service is fast. It was one of the best meals we had at hampton but the bar is set really low for that honor, honestly. The bread was good and warm, I ordered a custom meal request which was granted and tasty (try steak on the fettuccine Alfredo!) It's pricey for what they are giving you and the fact that the menu and the style hasn't changed in at least 25 years. They could lop a buck or two off each meal and I would be raving about the quality for the price. The bottom line is that most people at Hampton Beach are a captive audience since none of us want to move our cars so we go to these same places and they are always busy so why would they change? I just wish somebody with some flair would take the head chef position at one of these places and really turn Hampton eateries on their ear! Go to Mama Leones... its ok, you'll be full and happy. Broke, but full and happy. Close your eyes to the tacky fake plants and the god awful wallpaper borders. oh, and the soundtrack!!! I almost forgot- it was like you are in the movie Good Fellas!!! Too funny. We giggled every time a new song came on the loop of ten songs. LOL (at least the carpet was new and not smelly like so many other restaurants of that age and genre)
