We were lucky enough to find Wakeda over 20 years ago and have been going every year since. We absolutely love it and judge all other campgrounds to it. We have watched it grow over the years and Boy...has it. Every year there is more and more. The office staff have always been friendly and helpful.

They take excellent care of the facilities and there is always somebody working, cleaning or fixing something to keep it up to par. Most will wave as they pass you. The showers have stayed 25 cents over the years. Nice touch. Bathrooms are usually pretty clean. Sites are plentiful. There is a good portion of seasonal sites but also many non-seasonal sites to. Depending upon your needs you will be sure to find one you will like. It has built up over the years but you can still find sites for primitive camping to get into the woods and enjoy yourself if you wish. Sites without any services such as water, electric and sewer are starting to get a bit pricey. I completely understand the cost of sites with amenities.

The grounds are well maintained and we noticed a lot of nice touches such as new signs and more flowers this year.

It is usually pretty quiet. Occaisionally there will be a rowdy group but it is addressed quickly. There is a nightly drive thru by security. There are staff on the entrance gates at night checking stickers before you enter. There is an emergency number posted after the office closes if for any reason you need them.

The grounds are located close enough to Hampton/Hampton Beach area but just far enough that you don't get alot of the unwanted crowds. There are any number of stores around so you are never far from anything you need.

We will continue to come back year after year. My only request or suggestion would be to consider staying open until Columbus Day. We would love to go there in the fall and get that one last camping trip in but they close October 1st.

Dear LetsGoNow17,

Wow, it looks like you’ve covered everything, thank you! You clearly have been staying with us for a very long time! We’re so happy you’ve continued to return to Wakeda’s woods year after year and so appreciate your positive feedback on the changes you’ve seen and our efforts to keep the campground a beautiful, friendly and safe place. Nothing makes us happier than to hear that we’re serving as the benchmark by which other destinations are measured! Thank you for being such a loyal Wakeda “frequent flier” and for taking the time to share all this and your interest in a longer season.

Sincerely,
Wakeda Management

Our group had three sites side by side with good shade, bath house close by. Very large grounds with hundreds of sites. Ok campground store and coffee shop. Feel very remote as most sites 1 mile away from checkin office. 10-15 minutes away from Hampton Beach. A bit expensive (we paid $42/night for water & electric, no sewer) but we'd stay here again.
Would benefit if a pool were installed for guests. Cabins plentiful and seemed in good condition.

We decided to stay here for a few days while we were up visiting relatives. We had gotten a little off track on the way there. Called campground to see if they could guide us but they were not able to do so. Called my brother in law and he helped us get there, we were only a couple streets away! The campground is pretty large and nestled in the pines. It had a very nice store which was called the trading post. It had a nice playground and arcade area. It also had mini-golf, all which was great if you had young children. The only thing they did not have was a pool- which was unfortunate because it was very hot and humid the whole time we were there. However, there was a public pool down the road aways that you could visit- had to pay to get in but it was worth it since it was so hot!!! The other thing was the showers- we came back to campsite after being at the beach all day in the hot, humid weather. Couldn't wait to take a shower to cool off and get the sand and salt off of me. However, when I went to use the shower the water was so hot and there was no way to adjust the temp. Showers did not cool down either! I was the second person in line to use this shower and it was still really hot. There is nothing worse than being overheated then taking a shower and having more hot water doused on you. You have to use quarters for showers- some worked some didn't. This was my biggest complaint-

Dear Izzygirl123,
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience at Wakeda and for your nice comments about our Trading Post, playground, miniature golf and gameroom. We’re also happy to hear that you took advantage of the local pool during last week’s heat wave! We are sorry you had some difficulty finding us initially, usually our office staff is able to direct people from even the most obscure locations! Thank you also for sharing your concerns with the water temperature of the shower - we’re having our maintenance staff look into adjusting the temperature. We hope you’ll stay with us again the next time you’re up visiting family!
Sincerely,
Wakeda Management

I spent a weekend at wakeda last season and was not impressed. The staff were not very friendly and the place was like a small city. Roads were all paved and it didn't feel like a campground. I was there for 4 days and nobody stopped by to say hello. Seasonal were not very friendly and were asking where we had camped because they were looking for a better place. There was no pool and about 15 minute drive to crowded beach. The weather was very hot and ocean was freezing so no chance for relief. Drove in through front gate, nobody checking to see if we were camping there, Kind of scary since there were kids playing at park and anyone could drive in, gave me the creeps. Would not camp here again.

Room Tip: try another campground.

Dear Paul,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding your stay at Wakeda. We are certainly disappointed to hear that your time with us did not live up to your expectations. Providing excellent and attentive service to all our guests is something for which we’ve always been known and continues to be a priority for us. In fact, this past Sunday our staff completed a refresher customer service training program. We’re sorry to hear this was not your experience during your stay last year and hope you’ll give us another try in the future.

Last summer provided plenty of hot and sunny days! We appreciate your interest in getting some relief from the heat and understand ocean swimming is not for everyone. As such, we have handouts available in our office with information about alternate swimming destinations, including the town pool located just 2 miles from Wakeda. We hope if you do return sometime in the future that you’ll also take advantage of that option.

The security of our campers and our staff is of utmost importance to us. We require all campers and any visiting guests to have a registration sticker displayed in their vehicle’s windshield. Our staff is trained to continually look for these stickers as they move through the campground throughout the day and direct any unregistered vehicles to the office. In the evenings we have security posted at the gate checking these stickers and also have several security employees patrolling the property throughout the night. Additionally, we have a 24/7 security number posted in the campground and listed on our office voicemail should anyone have any concerns while camping with us.

Once again, we’re sorry your experience at Wakeda wasn’t as positive as what we’re accustomed to providing to our campers and hope you’ll give us another try!

Sincerely,
Wakeda Management

We just returned from a 5 day camping trip at Wakeda, and we cannot wait to return again! The campground is among the best we have ever been to. There are many seasonal sites, but you do not feel like an outsider if you are not a seasonal camper. Everyone is friendly, including ALL the staff we interacted with. The campground is very clean. The bathouses are clean. Nothing exceptional, but serve their purpose. The Trading Post is a beautiful building. Store is pretty basic, but again, staff is very friendly. The site we had, 6XL, was perfect when no neighbors had arrived yet. However, when people filled in the sites in front of us....well, it would be best if we were camping in a group at this site because your privacy is pretty much eliminated when site 26X set up. Their camper faced ours. Again, everyone was friendly enough, but it would have been better if we had a bit more privacy. Probably for them too. This will not keep us from returning....as a matter of fact, we are recommedning it to several of our other camper friends because it was just a perfect place. Even with the horrible weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!
