Beautiful room with the best of New Hampshire materials. The chef produces a spectacular and perfectly cooked food. The Bar is fabulous - wonderful beer and wine list and a fun array of seasonal cocktails. The fireplace is wonderful - try to eat at a table with a view of the fireplace if you go during fall or winter.

Not too long ago, the dining room of the Hanover Inn was characterized by starched white tablecloths with clientele that matched. Pine (and the lobby of the Inn itself) represents a metamorphosis into a much more congenial space. The restaurant has an excellent menu that’s inventive without getting gimmicky. It’s based on New England cooking but departs from there and adds flavor, color and presentation. Six of us had dinner in December 2013 and enjoyed five different main courses, including fish, chicken and beef. (There were a couple of vegetarian main courses on the menu.) All of the main courses were cooked perfectly and served with interesting garnishes that added to the taste and look of the meal. The service was right on target – efficient & friendly. Dinner for six with appetizers & main course plus a shared dessert and a few glasses of wine was about $48 a person including tip. We’ll be going back.

We had heard that Pine was inconsistent. Unfortunately we were there on a bad night. We went early and settled in for a drink by the fireplace. There was only a few patrons in the restaurant and plenty of staff but we waited a long time before a waiter came over and acknowledged or presence.
After our drinks we were seated by the window. It was a bitter cold evening and it was cold by the window. There was a heater under the window but it was turned off.
After another long wait our waitress asked us if we wanted something to drink. Now knowing the service is slow we ordered our meal at the same time. After a while a basket of bread was provided which held us over until our dinners were served which took quite a while. Our potato leek soup was flavorless and cold, our gnocchi was over cooked and pasty and my pasta was undercooked and chewy.
If you are looking for atmosphere, Pine is great, but if you want good service and good food, go somewhere else.

The service at the bar was horrible and the bartender is super creepy. He was unfriendly, creepy, creepy, creepy, creepy and clearly didn't know how to address and assist customers. I had to wave to get my drink numerous times and the bar was not crowded at all. It was seriously obnoxious how he was unable to service customers.

The worst part of the meal was trying to decide what to order from the impressive menu. My wife and I enjoyed the duck and the steak, with mac-and-cheese and pizza for the kids.
