We had a great time at Canoe Club. As the preeminent "upscale" place in Hanover, it is hard not to have at least one meal here.

Food: All of our food was good - none of the food quite got to the level of "great," but all of the dishes were consistent and met out expectations. My favorite dish was the gnocchi; it was an excellent consistency and had a good flavor profile.

Service: The service was efficient, if a bit impersonal. Everything came out of the kitchen accurately and in a timely manner, but the server made no real effort to try and interact with us on a more personal level.

Atmosphere: In my opinion, the decor at Canoe is the best in town! With the great memorabilia, as well as the music which they play every night, leads to a great atmosphere for any type of occasion.

Value: The food was not overly expensive, but I was expecting slightly higher quality for the meal I was receiving. Overall, however, it is not a bad deal.

Always welcoming and fun. Nice to mingle with the college crowd as well as the laid-back business types and retired hippies. Interesting menu but not pretentious. Excellent service, knowledgable and unhurried. Whether for business lunch or late dinner, I've never been disappointed. Only dining spot I know where you can enjoy live acoustic music without having to shout back and forth to your dinner partner. Everything on the menu is delicious; most recent favorites was the venison chili. Elegant rustic decor. The owner is a great story-teller, and was once a cop in a canoe.

In the Hanover area on business for weeks at a time we'd eaten at several locations and the Canoe Club came recommended by locals. Great location in Hanover within throwing distance to Dartmouth campus. Make sure to get a table in the piano room. Noisy? Not really, but a nice touch on the cold night we were there.

A great drink menu, which includes a variety of scotch, small batch bourbons and local brews. The food selections are plentiful and various. From the order at our table of four nobody went wrong ... from a burger, to pasta, to seafood. Very well prepared and attentively served.

There are a few good other establishments along the same street .... you won't go wrong at any of them. But the Canoe Club should definitely be on your list.

It can be a bit crowded and noisy. There's live music at dinner which is fun. My favorite dish lunch or dinner is mussels and aoili fries.

Had a nice surprise by stopping into the Canoe Club for a bite to eat. The burger and corn chowder were perfect and the owner, John Chapin was very welcoming. To top it off with a unique maple cheesecake. Bonus was some great jazz playing on the piano. Coming from Williamstown,MA which has its fair share of good dinning this was a perfect stop and will be back next time we are in town.
