“Great Team Experience”
Reviewed 2 January 2013

We took our small company on a week retreat at Coppertoppe, and had an excellent experience. Sheila and Bill were very personable and flexible about our requests, particularly nonstandard dietary restrictions of several team members. Sheila is an EXCELLENT cook! We had fantastic breakfasts every morning, and there was a wide tea selection as well as coffee and sweetener options.

The accommodations were beautiful as well as functional, and the bookshelves held many of my favorites as well as science fiction I'd never heard of before. I've never seen such an amazing bathroom! The view was also fantastic. We took our favorite company photos on site, with Sheila as the photographer.

We love it when a plan comes together. Your company retreat was successful because you did a lot of advance planning and excellent communicating with us about your needs. It was a team experience for all of us and we thank you for your coordination and feedback. We observe the rapid growth of your company with some pride having been a small part of your early entrepreneurial phase. Thanks also for writing an informative review for Coppertoppe! We look forward to nurturing other start-ups and boards as they prepare to take the great leap.

We had a very small wedding at The Coppertoppe on 11/11/11 and then came back to celebrate our first anniversary in 2012. We love being "at home" with Sheila and Bill. It's like getting away but with all of the amenities of home. The Garnet room has luxurious linens, a gigantic bathroom, spa tub, two decks, amazing views, a fridge, robes and slippers and a comfy sitting area. The food was SO YUMMY too!!! Ask Sheila for a frittata in the morning!

Room Tip: The Garnet room has a spectacular view, HUGE bathroom and amazing spa tab. PERFECT for a couples get...

We had such a lovely time with you and your family for your wedding that we framed one of your pictures for the office. It was fun seeing you again for your anniversary and hearing about your year. We hope you will be able to make anniversaries at Coppertoppe a tradition. Thank you for taking time to write your review. We'll see you in a few months.

Hosts Shelia and Bill were so wonderful and just very kind-hearted folks. They go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be. The garnet room was just incredible with the king size bed and soft sheets. The spacious bathroom covered in marble tile and the spacious spa-like tub with a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains was my favorite. Breakfast was delicious and Shelia was so accomodating to a gluten-free request. We will be sure to return in 2013.

This property is really a home that the owners have turned into a small B&B. Bill is very a lovely person. Very personable, soft spoken & kind. Sheila is nice but somewhat curt & was a bit abrasive with me immediately upon checkin regarding the kitchen area 'rules & regulations'. I was definitely taken aback by that. Not exactly an immediate welcoming reception which was unfortunate.

The big problem I ran into though was that Sheila, misrepresented the stairs on the property. I communicated that I would be travelling with a 14 yr old Bassett Hound so I inquired about stairs on the property. She confirmed that there were indeed stairs & no elevator. I then told her that my dog has to be carried up all staircases bc of her age. She can no longer navigate stairs bc of her arthritis & age. Sheila again made no attempt to communicate a potential problem. She did not elaborate on the size or the height of the stairs. Upon arrival, I walked over to be presented with a terribly steep, steel covered stairway with 15 steps up/down. I was completely shocked. I couldn't believe she had blatantly misrepresented the staircase. It was pretty upsetting.

I decided to check out after 1 night BC I was truly scared of carrying my dog up & down the stairwell. I also was not happy with the 'Inn' moniker & Sheila's brusque attitude.

I aired my grievances & they have yet to get back to me about returning the 3 nights unused accommodations.

They have a 14 day cancellation policy so be forewarned.

I have to say, I was extremely disappointed about the experience e as a whole. i am hopeful that they will graciously rectify this situation by refunding me the money for the unused nights.

We were looking forward to providing a peaceful, comfortable time away for both human and dog. It did not occur to us that our guest had never looked at our website where the ten-foot ceilings and diamond-plate stair treads are mentioned as features. She only read the Groupon, which did not provide structural details.

We are sad that our guest was not happy with her situation and did not talk with us until after she decided to move out. She returned at bedtime on the second day to pick up her things and didn’t want to talk about it.

Had this guest discussed her difficulty with us on the first morning, we would have offered her the first-floor suite. If we had been able to have an open conversation, we could have resolved the situation.

We have been surprised not to have a phone call since this guest departed, as she had said we would talk the next day. Seeing this review was our first “communication” from her. Our follow-up has been delayed by Sheila being very sick with acute bronchitis.

As for this being a house, not a “traditional” inn, that is mentioned many times on reviews and on our website (with lots of pictures). It is a big, modern house with ten-foot ceilings, hardwood floors and marble bathrooms. Our stairs are no steeper than any built to modern code. Of necessity they are longer because of the high ceilings, and they have excellent traction because they are covered in diamond plate (metal).

We routinely explain the strict guidelines for food safety to all guests. We are diligent about teaching guests how to avoid cross-contamination on the buffet. We show the preferred dog treat area and discourage feeding dogs from the dining room table to preserve the comfort of all guests.

As for a refund, we are willing to communicate privately about our cancellation policy.

We had a wonderful time at Coppertoppe this past weekend, 10/12-10/14. The location is incredible. You get the best views of the lake and the mountains surrounding it. Sitting on the balcony drinking my coffee overlooking the lake on a sunny Saturday morning may have been one of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had. We stayed in the Garnet Suite so we had a private balcony which was really nice. It also has an enormous bathroom with a 3 headed shower as well as a big jacuzzi tub. We also made use of the outdoor hot tub which allows you to enjoy a nature and a nice view of the lake.

Bill and Sheila were incredibly nice and welcoming. The breakfasts that they prepared were awesome. We also had dinner Saturday night and that was great. They use fresh and local ingredients which I think makes a huge difference.

What made the trip so special for us was being able to bring our dog Hank. Coppertoppe truly is pet friendly unlike some other places that say they are but don't really mean it. Hank was just as well taken care of as us.

We had a great trip and can not recommend Coppertoppe highly enough.

Room Tip: The Garnet Suite has a GIANT bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. It also has a private balcony. Every room...

My husband and I, with our 3 mo old son, had the pleasure of staying at the Coppertoppe Inn. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Sheila and Bill and instantly smelled some of Shelia's fantastic treats - freshly baked muffins (including a gluten-free version). Their home is delightful and very comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with water, juices, soda, tea, and coffee as well as snacks for any hour. Sheila and Bill take care of everything from the moment you walk in the door and indeed take hospitality seriously. We had a great farm egg breakfast while Bill held our baby so my husband and I could enjoy our meal together. That was a real treat! The rooms are very comfortable and clean, and the bathroom is stocked with artisan hand soaps, shampoo/conditioner and plush towels. We really enjoyed ourselves here and can't wait to return.

We traveled six hours to Newfound Lake in Hebron New Hampshire to attend a wedding. We were lucky to book in advance the Coppertoppe Inn & Retreat Center for our weekend stay. Bill & Sheila made our visit feel like we were with family and were extremely hospitable and friendly. They were genuinely concerned with what they could do to make our trip pleasant. If someone enjoys a healthy first class breakfast Sheila & Bill are the ones you want preparing the meal. We were able to personally see their interaction with other guests who were repeat visitors and looking to book a stay again the following year, and also see their personal attention to some of the local youth that they employed to keep the gardens in top notch shape. We would highly recommend anyone planning a visit to the lake area to check and see if the Coppertoppe Inn is available.

Room Tip: All the rooms overlook the lake so you really can not go wrong but book early because of limited roo...
