The food at Helling's Slopeside is excellent. We've been here at least a half dozen times and have never been disappointed. Every once in a while the staff gets a little flustered but when a mistake is made they are eager to fix and eager to please. (Mistakes rarely happen, though).

The quality of the goods used to make their meals is top shelf. Some of the other area restaurants closer to Sunapee are just plain awful. In fact, so awful that we don't return. We're locals and have dined at nearly every restaurant between Pat's Peak and Sunapee and Helling's is our favorite.

If you're a fan of fried mushrooms, there's are phenomenal. Love steak tips? MMMM. tender and juicy. Great specials and GREAT prices.

Best food, best prices, wonderful, cozy atmosphere and George the bartender is helpful and really wants customers to be satisfied.

Family owned and operated. Home run!

Great food - LOVE the garlic chicken. Family owned. Good pricing. They had a small band playing that evening. Nice atmosphere.

We've been here twice now and both times the food has been outstanding. The service could use a little tweaking like when you request none of one thing but extra of something else and they get it backwards. Worse things could happen though and other then that the service is good. The attractive salad comes to you chilled as it should be and is very appealing to the eyes. That is a great way to start a dining experience and a good first impression. Frest baked bread is warm and that too is an indication of other good things to come. Both times I had the steak tips and they were excellent, The marinade is out of this world. The next time I go back I'm going to ask if I can buy some. My wife loves salmon and she says how they prepare it here is better then any other place she's ordered it. From the salad, through the appetizers right up to the entree' the portions are very generous. So much so we couldn't even think of dessert unfortunately. I hope this place can make it. It's so nice having a restaurant of this caliber right here in town. The only drawback that we can see is their sign down on 114 is a little hard to see and read as you're driving by and that might keep some people from ever knowing about or thinking about them when they're choosing a new place to try. That's just our opinion, but if you don't ski at Pats Peak or know about Hellings before hand you might never know it's up there tucked out of the way. But it's definitely worth discovering and visiting. You won't be disappointed.

At the base of Pat's Peak, this is a tastefully decorated and tasty restaurant! We enjoyed it very much while visiting the local college! Shall I just say that I would be tempted to make the three hour roadtrip again just to eat the steak and linginie with creamy gorgonzonla cheese sauce!! Definitely a must try! If you sit up in the loft seating area you can even view the ski slope! We saw a sign that they also serve breakfast too!

I would agree this is one of the best places to eat in Henniker. Colby Hill is probably better but that's more of a special occasion or romantic place, while Helling's is better for family and friends getting together. It's also a lot less expensive then the Inn. Helling's Pot roast is excellent, ask for extra gravy, it's a huge portion. Baked scallops were also very good, not overcooked or dry as is usually the case. We started with the calamari which was done nicely with hot peppers and a delicious suace, in addition to the usual side of marinara. And it's served so if your not into the hot peppers you can avoid them (but don't!) My drink came in a big glass, which was so welcome, one of my biggest pet peeves are places that charge over five dollars for a cocktail then give you a six ounce glass full of ice. Typical kids menu. Service was very friendly, though we were there on a busy Friday so it was a bit slow. Will definately go again.
