We recently stayed in one of the lakefront cottages. They were a little more rustic than we'd expected. The lake is definitely beautiful and had we been there in warmer weather I'm sure we would have enjoyed their canoes or paddle boat on the lake. We had reserved the cottage for 2 nights but chose to leave after only one even though our second night was not refunded. If you are looking for the cleanliness and white fluffy towels of a Hampton Inn, this is not the place for you. If you want a place on a beautiful lake you may give it a try.

Room Tip: Lakefront cabins are a plus

A marvelous motel and cottages. Complete with a beach, boat access to White Oak Pond. And fishing! The cottages are basic and clean. A great "base of operations" for a week of exploring! Reliable housekeeping services. Tip: pick up your groceries on the way if you're planning to fix some meals in the cottages' kitchens. All in all, a great value and a great experience if you're looking for an authentic taste of New Hampshire without all the trappings of "fancy" hotels. In fact, a moose swam across the lake during our stay! Lots of half-day and full-day driving options from here into the White Mountains; over to the scenic trains in Conway; roadside arts, crafts, quilts, stores; and only 1:10 (about 65 miles) from the Manchester airport! (Owner) Carol is immensely helpful, too. Plenty of nearby restaurants in Meredith and "Walter's" in Holderness. We heartedly recommend and would return for another week's adventure in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Lakeside cottages cost a tad more, but waking up to lake views is worth it!

White Oaks Pond is what I would call a lake. A beautiful piece of nature. We had cottages 14 and 15—one right on the lake, another back in the trees. The nearby beach was excellent for our grandsons to play in, and other guests were warm and welcoming, as was the staff. We took a paddle boat out, and it was perfect for our little preschoolers. The playground was sort of non-existant, but the motel should promote the sand pile—our little guys absolutely loved it. The cottages themselves are typical—a tad dated, or rustic, but they have everything you need. Oddly, our bathroom had no sink—the sink was in the bedroom. Whatever. it worked. Plenty of towels, a receptive and helpful staff for more when we needed them. A full, though small, kitchen. We were comfortable there.

Room Tip: Get a room on the lake. Those close by are fine, but being right on the lake is unbeatable. Poolside rooms looked the least appealing—they were pretty close to the road and only nominally next to the pool. Still, if you have older kids who want to swim, those might be the most convenient.

This is a fabulous little motel. Extremely friendly and right on the lake. We stayed in one of the motel rooms but there are also the cottages that look right onto the lake. Facilities were amongst the best we have seen and rooms are large. We were lucky enough to see a (Belted) Kingfisher skim the water as we paddled around the lake in a canoe that is available to hire - also kayaks and rowing-boats. Thoroughly recommend.
