Owner description: Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a fun and enlightening place for everyone to enjoy. Here at the Science Center, we house and exhibit many different wild animals, including river otters, mountain lions, bobcats, deer, bears, birds, foxes, and skunks. The wild animals at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center are ambassadors of their species, here for the purpose of educating our visitors about New Hampshire's natural world. Most are orphaned, injured, or otherwise unable to survive in the wild. Observing these animals up-close, together with experiencing our hands-on exhibits, offers visitors the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of our native wildlife and appreciation of the natural world.

We went with our daughter and son-in-law and their two preschoolers. All had a great time. The space is top-notch and well maintained. It is a beautiful setting with innovative and interactive exhibits.

Well worth the trip! The grounds are well cared for, as are all the rescued animals in the centers care. The place is educational without beating it into your head. Photo opportunities are excellent with great viewing ports & open air views if possible. All the kids i saw on my visit seemed to be enjoying themselves, there is a childrens learning center that made me want to join in & climb (ok as a 55 yr old woman it would have been a challenge). i did not take the lake cruise but I image it would have been excellent as well. Gift shop had plenty of things i wanted to purchase. I spent 4.5 hours there & took about 180 photo's. I am seriously considering purchasing a membership so I can visit often. wheelchair access is rugged with gravel paths, but they are mostly flat.

After watching "On Golden Pond" visiting Squam Lake where it was filmed was fun. The best way to see the lake is on the Squam Lake Nature boat cruise. It is a 90 minute cruise around sections of the lake narrated by a very informative guide. We saw a pair of loons and learned about the 15 loon pairs who make the lake their home. We saw where portions of the movie were filmed and heard how the small town felt about the filming of this Hollywood movie on their very private lake.

Kind of a combination of hiking trail and zoo. The animal exhibits were excellent. I especially enjoyed seeing the mountain lion and other cats. We also got to see a tiny saw whet owl during a presentation. The presenter was very informative, professional, and engaging.

At $15 per person, it's a good value. It takes at least a couple hours to see all there is to see, and you can bring in your own lunch to eat in their rustic (think: picnic tables) pavilion.

We are two adults without children and we loved it! There were lots of kids there running around, and they loved it too, it seemed. :)

While visiting in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, we decided to try something a little different for us. We had been to this area several times and never done the Squam Lake Cruise. Anyone who gets the opportunity, should definitely take this cruise. The guide was very fun and new so many facts about this Lake. We did get to see from a distance several Loons. They did not want to cooperate and get up closer to the pontoon boat. Still a great 90 mins.
