“"A great weekend getaway"”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

This was our third trip to "The Inn on Golden Pond" and each time we have gone on President's weekend. But it would be fun to come back a different time of year, maybe during Moose season. It is beautiful whether the ground/lake is snow covered or not. We like to snow shoe and the grounds around the Inn and the mountains near by are great for that. Bill and Bonnie, the owners are great, very warm and welcoming. Bill and Bonnie know a lot about the area if you have any questions and they make your stay comfortable. The accommodations are nice and clean and the breakfast is delicious.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine.

Stayed here for a weekend get away. It didn't matter that it was winter, because the service was friendly and warm. Bill and Bonnie made us feel like we were at home. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful, especially the conversation part of it. Bonnie does such a great job cooking and welcoming while Bill does a great job chatting and "telling people what to do" (giving advice on what to see/where to eat) We loved our stay at the inn. It is close enough to town, but far enough away from town where it was quiet. The room was very clean and beautiful. We would definitely love to come back here. Great location!

Room Tip: We were lucky enough to stay in the suite-Bear's Den. We were also able to take a peak at the o...

My husband and I spent two nights at the Inn in February. The rooms were large, with a sitting area overlooking the beautiful acreage behind the Inn. The rooms were immaculate! Bill and Bonnie were very welcoming and we spent a fair amount of time each morning chatting with them during breakfast, which, by the way, was delicious! The common areas were inviting as well, with a working fireplace and comfy sitting area. I loved the fact that there were several restaurants close by as well as several hiking trails. We are looking forward to returning during the summer months to take advantage of the proximity to Squam Lake.

If you are contemplating taking a visit to the New Hampshire Lakes Region during any season, look no further than The Inn on Golden Pond. This lovely B&B is situated in a quiet yet central location that provides access to great hiking trails and lake activities of all sorts. My boyfriend and I decided to take a trip here in the winter and when we pulled up the inn, it looked like something out of a fairytale. A good foot and a half of snow blanketed the ground, and the warm glow emanating from the windows beckoned us in. Bill and Bonnie, the owners, immediately made us feel right at home. We stayed in the Owl's Nest, a room on the top floor, which had a fabulous view of the backyard and felt cozy and charming. The building is over 100 years old which, in addition to impeccable decorating, gives the inn a unique and interesting atmosphere.

Bonnie and Bill clearly love their role as innkeepers and make everyone feel instantly welcome. They were able to provide the perfect hiking recommendations for my boyfriend and I. West Rattlesnake Mountain is a must-visit! We especially loved the home-cooked breakfasts and the menu book where visitors can write reviews for the local places they have eaten (try the Common Man!). After we reluctantly returned home from the trip, we received a kind e-mail from Bill and Bonnie thanking us for our visit. Please do yourself a favor and book a weekend (or more) at The Inn on Golden Pond. You can thank me afterwards, or maybe I'll see you there!

Judy and I spent the weekend arriving Friday before the snow and leaving Sunday
amid flurries. The light snow late Saturday into Sunday was lovely.
Bill and Bonnie made us feel very welcome and offered excellent suggestions
for activities and restaurants. Bonnie's breakfasts were delicious.

I decided to take in the festivities at the Inn on Golden Pond this year. I arrived on Sunday, the 29th, had dinner with friends from the Inn on Sunday evening at The Common Man in Ashland. Food was good but the service was very slow. It had started to snow at 4:00 in the afternoon, and we left about 5:15 for the restaurant. We came back and relaxed by the wonderful fireplace and also worked on a puzzle. Monday, I had lunch with a friend, dinner with friends, brunch on Tuesday with friends (just a roll and some bacon, as I had a wonderful breakfast at the Inn and really had no room for any more food). Returned to the Inn in the afternoon to relax before we had a light supper prepared by Bonnie, the innkeeper. We had a wonderful veggie lasagana, salad, bread and butter. Then we went out to the parking lot where Bill (inn keeper) built a bonfire which was awesome. Then we made S'mores with huge marshmallows. It was so cold out but we were toasty warm. Then we went inside and watched DVD's from five previous New Year's celebrations, then played a Bingo game created by Bill with the names of each room in the blocks and each name having a number after it, ie: Porcupine 10, Bear 3, Deer 5, etc. He also made slips of paper which we used to cover the animal called out. The paper had Inn on Golden Pond, New Year's 2014. It was such a fun game and lots of laughs. Just before midnight, we had sliced apples with a marshmallow dip, cheese and crackers, and an awesome chocolate cake with cream filling, white frosting and coconut. We watched the ball fall in Times Square and had champagne to welcome in the new year. There were two couples and myself for this New Year's. I'm planning on making this a tradition for myself every year as long as I can and the weather permits. It was a wonderful three days away, and as I've said before, it feels like my home away from home. My late husband and I just loved the Inn, and I continue to return there twice a year.

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool or fitness center. This is a Bed and Breakfast.

We stayed at the inn for six nights at the end of September and did not want to leave. Bill and Bonnie were such welcoming, warm and gracious hosts and made us feel at home. The inn was spotlessly clean and had real character. The grounds were also lovely. Breakfast was exceptional and set us up for the day. We loved the Inn on Golden Pond and the lakes region and would recommend it.
