Had a great stay at the Lodge for three nights, hotel is clean and well presented and the staff are very welcoming and keen to help with information. The rooms are large and we had a good view over the river at the back. It was quiet. On the downside, the continental breakfast wasn't quite what we had expected however (the website is perhaps confusing and perhaps we had read the information incorrectly, so it might be wise to check what is and isn't included in different seasons and days of the week breakfast-wise) as there was a limited option for food.

There was hot water and a microwave available, packets of oats, apples and varied cereals, butter, jam and snack bars, (yoghurt sometimes) but no milk the first morning to put on the cereal and although there was a self service toaster available there was never any bread to toast (we bought our own loaf for the second and third mornings). So it was a bit hit or miss. It was difficult to find anything for our daughter to drink other than water as she doesn't drink tea or coffee. I think it was inbetween seasons and mid week so not busy, but I would have expected fresh milk, orange juice and bread as standard. Previous reviews on tripadvisor seem to suggest they had a different experience to ours. This is a minor quibble, but it would have been better to have been advised on the website more clearly and then you can plan accordingly. We had specifically looked for hotels/inns that included breakfast, but it was really half a breakfast. It was a disappointment when everything else was so good.

We stayed at the Lodge for 3 nights early in October, the room was large and clean with a nice view from the balcony to the stream behind the Lodge. Our hosts were polite and friendly and had recently introduced a continental breakfast for the guests at no extra charge. The Lodge is a short work from the Shannons Door Pub which was a great place to eat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back to have a nice view to the stream behind the Lodge

We had stayed at the Lodge 5 years ago and as we were in the area again for a few days, we thought we would see if it was still good. It is! We had a room upstairs (first floor to fellow British readers) with a balcony and great view to the river behind and mountains in the distance. Very clean and comfortable room. The highlight is clearly the breakfasts - homemade oatmeal, apple crisp and various pastries. I could have eaten the lot very happily. Fantastic. Convenient for all the White Mountains' attractions and walking distance to local restaurants for dinner. Can't wait to go back again.

Very central location for day trips to Mt. Washington Vally. without the traffic of No. Conway. Neat, clean and quiet. Friendly staff very willing to help. Best of all great Oatmeal cookies in the lobby at checkin. Forgot a sweater, had it in the mail within a week.

Nice and clean hotel. Great breakfast with homemade pastries prepared by the owner (although I must say I prefer not to eat sweets in the morning, perhaps contrary to the average American judging by the breakfast served in hotels). Great location - good base for trips to the white mountains, and also for shopping in North Conway. Also noteworthy is that this is a very quiet location - in fact, it was so quiet that our sleep was only disturbed by the sound of frogs (or where these toads?).

Cathi made my weekend recently...We were staying for the weekend to ride bicycles up a pile of rocks.....I'm a recent low carb person and asked if I bought some eggs if they could hardboil them for us and put them out in the morning? (which by the way they get up early several times a year to accommodate the athletes competing in events in the area....4am early) She quickly said yes...I never got to a store for eggs.....Event morning came and there were a dozen eggs sitting in a bowl waiting for me and the other event goers ....Three in a cup with a note that they be left for me.....Can not thank them enough for going the extra distance to make my event day less stressful! Have stayed here in the past...my expectations were always met....this time they were exceeded! Thanks

My husband and I spent only one night here and we can not wait to return for a longer stay. Even before we checked in, I knew we would enjoy ourselves here. Our reservation was originally made for two nights, but we unfortunately had to cancel one of the nights. When I called the Lodge to explain this, they couldn't have been more understanding and accomodating as well as very gracious. After we checked in Dana was very helpful with directions to local natural attractions, and I do not know enough words to describe the wonderfully delicious breakfast they served in the morning. Cathi definately deserves a gold star. Beautifullly landscaped surroundings rounded out our stay. We had a ground floor room with a patio. It was a great place to sit and relax. We will return, and hopefull it will be soon!
