“Great Hotel/ Great Value- No regrets!”
Reviewed 9 July 2008

We stayed in room 407. It had an outdoor Jacuzzi that had a view of the mountains. At night when you could no longer see the mountains, you could enjoy the sound of the Wild cat river and Jackson Falls across the street. The front desk was a joy and accomadated us however we needed. We played tennis on the clay courts and had an ice cappuccino afterwards at the locals cafe next door. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I was able to take care of work e-mails & etc. at the writing desk on my laptop. The room was exactly how it was described- country elegant- gold-plated fixtures, a marble sink, and lace and florals- not my taste (my home is contemporary and simple), but nothing more or less than it was described. It was immaculate from floor to ceiling. My ownly complaint would be is to remove and repair the grout from the shower-it looks manky. The owners made it exactly how it should be, and with nothing to hide. The Inn is very old and has quirks, such as slanted floors and how you would expect it in the old days. We didn't mind as it was updated with newer amenities, clean, and cozy. We had the dinner and breakfast included. I would say I have a well-cultured taste and that the 4 course dinner was 4+ star. (Great and unexpected!)The service was impeccable. Breakfast was a healthy portion of country food served by the same great staff from the night before, and it was served on the porch with fresh fruit and pastry.

  • Liked — The views, customer service, dinner, not too many children
  • Disliked — A single big family that was staying was loud, unkept, and not courtious of others at the Inn.

My husband and I stayed at The Wentworth for our honeymoon March 11-14, 2008, and it was perfect. We did the dinner and breakfast package and it was well worth it! We ate dinner and breakfast there every night; dinner is served as a 4-course meal and it was delicious, especially, the soups! The ambience was great and there was a gas fire burning every night. There's plenty to choose from for breakfast, too, and it was also delicious. Having our meals there was very convenient because it is not a big city (obviously) so everything opens late or closes early and most of the places to eat were in North Conway 7 miles away. Once we got to our room for the night, we really didn't want to leave so it was definitely a plus to eat at the Inn! The service was great and our room was excellent! Definitely everything we could've wished for on a honeymoon in the mountains! It was close to all the skiing (we went to Bretton Woods-not the closest but perfect for ALL ski levels; I'm a beginner, Bunny hills/greens, and my husband is intermediate, blues/easy blacks). Anyway, I'd recommend the Wentworth to everyone...absolutely worth the money; rustic and classy all at the same time!

I have stayed at The Wentworth 3 times now and each time has been terrifiic. I've stayed 2 of the outdoor hottub rooms - hubby loves them and one of the rooms with an indoor jacuzzi tub. I favor the indoor jacuzzi with the bath salts with is an excellent touch. The truly wonderful thing about this hotel though is food. OUTSTANDING. The gourmet dinner and country breakfast are delicioius - I think it may be impossible to have a bad meal here. We also enjoyed some time at the bar listening to the piano player and a quick game of pool before dinner one night. Highly recommend to all of our friends and family looking for a romantic getaway.

We love the Wentworth. We have stayed here three times. It's a charming property with great detail. The rooms are spacious, decorated nicely and comfortable. I have read that the rooms in the main building are not as nice but we haven't seen them. Our room had a gas fireplace and a wooden hot tub on a semi private balcony. A wooden hot tub is rare. I haven't been able to find any other place in the White's that has them. Staff and clenliness get A's as well. We have gone back and we will go back.

We stayed here for my cousins wedding and we were very impressed, we had one of the Arden rooms - Room 404, what a lovely sized room and a fabulous bathroom with whirlpool tub! The Wentworth is very charming, the staff were very helpful and the wedding went very smoothly. The setting is beautiful with just a short walk to Jackson Falls, a number of small shops are located nearby including a lovely local deli and shop which was handy to stock up on some snacks, it’s also not far to take a taxi ride to the nearby town of North Conway if you are looking for a night out. The location is ideal for exploring around the area. There is an outdoor pool area, which was a welcome break on the heat wave that they were having at the time. We would stay here again.

The Wentworth has a very loyal following bordering on cultish, but in a good way! We have visited this country inn three times and count us among those that think this is a special place. It is a FIND!

Our attraction was value, which for the Wentworth means that a package of room and meals is very inexpensive for what you get. Being an older property (~140 years), there is a wide variety of thoroughly updated rooms and suites, all very nice. There is nothing cookie-cutter about the Wentworth and the accomodations will please most discerning yet informal travelers. The dining room is of exceptional quality for the area and here's the key; pair your room with a meal plan in a package, do the math and you'll agree that you're getting a great value. Do NOT fear locking in your dining choice--you won't regret it. Nice warm, friendly bar also.

As a New Hampshire native, I have to step back from what I often overlook and also tell you that the Wentworth is quintessential New England charm. You even go through a covered bridge to get there--what more do you want? Jackson is a lovely location with many winter and summer recreational choices and tons of shopping nearby.

Pass up the sleeker and younger properties of North Conway and book the Wentworth.
