My wife and I stayed here Feb. 4th - 11th, 2011 as part of a time-share exchange with our Club Navigo ownership. It was very cooooooold outside!
We stayed in the Jackman Building, by requesting a room there after hearing about how nice the rooms were there from others in their reviews here. It was nice, and very similar to the set-up of the rooms at InnSeasons South Mountain, which about a mile or so down the road, and at which we have stayed before. For some reason, though, they wouldn't let me exchange at South Mtn. The daily towel exchange and garbage pick up was a plus, but we really didn't need to have our towels changed out daily. Once, we received a phone call to our room asking if there was anything that we needed, which kind of surprised me, but that was nice....we didn't. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
They put us on the first floor, which usually means that there are not any stairs or elevators to deal with, but....not in the Jackman building! You enter on the 3rd or 4th floors and go down! So, we always had to take the stairs up and down four floors, or go to the center of the building after entering at one of the ends of the building and take the slowest elevator I have ever seen in my life. Plus....we got a lot of exercise; minus...it was a real PITA getting into and out of our building. Also, the people who they put just above us were noisy and we always heard them banging around. If we ever go back, or if you do and you stay in the Jackman building, ask for an upstairs room...preferably the 4th floor. It probably has a better view, too.
The parking lots were constantly being plowed as the snow kept piling up. They did it at least once a day. Never did see any actual pavement, though. Just paved snow.
The one "fault" that I could say about this place was kind of a big one, to me. They told us that we could have internet access in our room, for a charge of $25 for the week, which I reluctantly agreed to. All of our home resorts with Club Navigo offer it free to all of their owners at all of their resorts. Anyway, they have this modem / ethernet box that you "buy" from them and plug into any wall socket and hook up you computer to it. Supposedly, the internet runs through the electrical system there. Well, we couldn't get it to even start to work. I called the office to tell them about this and they told me that you can't plug the box and the computer into the same pair of outlets. So we tried opposing different outlets everywhere and nothing worked. They sent a guy up to our room who brought another box and tried unsuccessfully himself. He told us, "this happens all of the time". We never did get the thing to work after they even rebooted the entire system, so then I was told from the girl at the office, "sorry", and that was that. They refunded my $25. They do have free wi-fi in the main building lounge, but the Jackman building is about 1/4 mile away, so whenever we wanted to use the internet, we had to make a trip out of it, which was to say the least, very inconvenient. I had thought they would have offered to have us change rooms where it may work, but they didn't. It probably didn't work anywhere, anyway.
We may return some day, but next time I'll know what to expect and what to ask for, specifically. It was a nice place to stay, if you play your cards right and request and receive the right options.
