My wife and I were looking for a quick dinner out and decided to try the Lyme Inn. Upon arrival you could quickly tell someone had ordered the fish. Not an issue if your like fish but if you don't you can't escape the smell. We were quickly and professionally greeted and shown to a table for two that was tucked just inside the entrance. Not a bad seat but lots of foot traffic from the staff and pretty much anyone entering or leaving the restaurant. We ordered a few beers from a decent selection that were great. The owner told us about the menu and left us to make our selection. The menu has a good selection but tends to be on the higher end of price and fine dining. We ordered the fish and chips and a burger. After about 10 minutes some butter and rolls came out (2 rolls) that were so hard you could not cut into them. They were also SO hot you had to let them sit for a few minutes. When we were finally able to butter them they were almost inedible because they were so hard. After a short while the food came out. The burger was missing the cheese and the bun was burnt. The hand cut fries were very undercooked and lukewarm in the middle. The tomato and onion looked like an afterthought and the lettuce was wilted and limp. The burger was cooked as ordered but nothing special. The fish was ok but the fries were just as undercooked. The coleslaw that came with it was pretty good but the only thing that lived up to expectations. All of this said I don't know how some of the finer dining items may be but if your looking for a quick bite you should go to the other place in town. I know we will next time.
