“As Good as the reviews”
Reviewed 30 August 2011

We came through Manchester to get married in Vermont. We were so excited that a room opened the day we arrived. Eric was so welcoming and the inn is very comfortable. There are snacks and a variety of drinks available at all times which was perfect after our day of flying. One nice thing about the location of the inn is a short walk to several nice restaurants for dinner. Eric gives great directions and knows everything about the best places to eat.

When you settle in for the night the beds are very comfortable and the robes provided are divine. The bathrooms are very clean and the water pressure and temperature is perfect. You feel wrapped in a romantic cocoon.

The breakfast room is set up like a very cozy cafe with little tables to sit at. Eric really made the best pancakes I have tasted and will share his secret willingly. And the coffee maker is an entertainment factor, I do have coffee maker envy. It makes single cups so you can pick from multiple flavors.

Eric is even helpful after you check out. Later that day we had driven through an incorrect toll booth and couldn't pay because it only accepted passes. We thought our trip was ruined and called Eric so we would know what to expect. It was not a tragedy and he assured us it happens all the time.

Thank you Eric for starting our trip off well. We never met Darlene but if she is like Eric then I am sure she is great.

and an architecture lover's dream! A gem of a perfectly restored Victorian mansion with stained glass in the windows, beautifully decorated and updated with unobtrusive touches of modern luxury. The beds are plush, the bathrooms are en suite (and just as lovely as the rest of the house), and there is internet access. Darlene and Eric are the perfect hosts, welcoming and friendly. They serve up wonderful breakfasts, and keep coffee, tea, and scones or cookies on tap.

Another treat for the art/architecture lover is the Currier Museum of Art just two blocks away. This museum offers tours of the Zimmerman House, a Frank Lloyd Wright creation for a local doctor and his wife. Reservations are usually necessary; get them at http://www.currier.org/collections/zimmerman.aspx OR you can reserve as a package that includes your stay at the Ash Street Inn at http://www.currier.org/victorianusonian.aspx. It's wonderful to compare two family homes, one a lavish 1885 Victorian and the other a small but perfect example of one of the 20th century's most celebrated architect's style, within minutes of one another.

If we ever go back to Manchester, we would not consider staying anywhere else. I can't emphasize enough how comfortable Ash Street Inn is, or how wonderful Darlene and Eric are to their guests. Thanks, y'all, for a lovely experience!

Flying from San Jose CA to Manchester earlier this summer, my wife and I stayed for the fourth time at the altogether admirable Ash Street Inn in downtown Manchester, about a 20 minute drive from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. This inn has just about everything a traveler might desire, and not a few items that surprise one by their aptness and thoughtfulness. You'll have coffee, tea, cookies and scones waiting for you when you arrive, and in your very comfortable rooms you'll find a desk equipped with internet connectivity, quiet air-conditioning, luxurious bathrobes and bathrooms equipped with lotions and shampoos, and very comfortable beds with flat screen TVs for those interested in such amenities. In a word, this inn has it all. We could not recommend it more highly, from the gracious hospitality of Darlene & Eric Johnson to the sheer sense of relief and comfort one feels on returning to this lovely establishment.

The Ash Street Inn is a beautiful inn with very comfortable rooms, great host, delicious breakfast (many options- would suggest the pancakes!) and convenient location. 21st century touches to make it very comfortable, but they don't detract from historical essence of the house. Highly recommended.

The perfect "resting place" after a long day of work. Love the 24 hour coffee, scones, fruit, snacks and tea. Innkeepers work very hard to provide all you need with an incredible amount of professionalism! Worked perfectly for this very picky business traveler!

We recently spent four nights at the Ash Street Inn. Eric was a great host and provided us with delicious breakfasts each morning. We tried the omelets, french toast and eggs over easy-also the 7 grain toast was wonderful. Our room was nice-loved the shower with the shampoo, shower gel and conditioner in a dispenser. Having free wifi was also nice.
There are snacks, drinks and cookies available all day.

The Inn is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the river. We hope to return again next year when we visit our son and family.
