“Hotel has been upgraded but still shows age”
Reviewed 22 February 2010

I decided to write this review after staying this past year at three other Fairfield Inns (Medford, NY, Hooksett, NH, and Concord, NH). All of these other locations were similarly rated by marriott.com in a two star rating category. However, Hooksett and Medford are nearly brand new, and Concord is completely renovated including exterior with a very solid AAA rating approval. Hooksett and Concord also had indoor pool, and fitness center offerings.

Fairfield Manchester has a newer lobby and breakfast area. The green tea refresh has been done on the rooms. However, age will always show and it does at this location. The a/c units are GE and appear very old, the rooms are heated by rusted baseboard electric heat, and the shades and wall plate decor were still all very old even after the refresh. The age of the facility brought very thin walls especially in the bathrooms. The front lobby entrance had nice window doors but the side entrances had not been updated with full steel doors without windows as you would see in older constructed hotels. Overall cleanliness was good but with the heat being localized to the baseboard and not part of the A/C unit like in new hotels, ventilation in the rooms lacked that fresh air smell.

If you are in this area and do not need to be right next to the airport, the Fairfield in Hooksett or Concord (further north) are much more attractive choices for value and modernization.

I have stayed in all kinds of hotels around the world. India, Istanbul, Santorini Greece, London, Los Angeles, NYC, etc., etc. etc. So I know what I am talking about. This is a very good hotel for the money. We always stay there when visiting our family and bring great grandma with us. This is not a luxury hotel, but the best value I can find in this area. I need a non smoking hotel, and I am a pretty fussy sleeper. If I ever have a problem (noisey neighbors, for instance) I call the desk and they fix it. I was surprised to read some of the very negative comments about this hotel. The breakfast is basic, but the breakfast room lady is so cheerful she brightens our day. The rooms are simple but clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is very helpful.

We stayed here last year too. Close to the airport (which is just what we needed). Spotless room, clean beds, breakfast to accommodate all tastes.

I recently stayed at the Fairfield Inn Manchester and was pleased with the hotel. No complaints, but nothing to really rave about either.

Check in was quick and the man at the desk was friendly. We had a late check in time---9:00 p.m. and were told this would be no problem.

The room was recently renovated and modern. Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, air conditioner worked well, free wifi.
Vending machines for soda and candy are on each floor which was convenient.
Ice is only on 2 of the 4 floors though, not a big deal.

The best thing about this hotel was the continental breakfast. It surprisingly offered a wide selection of food including cereals, toast, fruit, yogurt, frozen breakfast sandwiches, eggs, and make your own belgium waffle machine--fresh ones, not frozen.

I would most likely stay at this hotel again if I was in the area, especially since it was less than $100 for the night.

This was a classis 2-star chain box hotel and was entirely adequate for the price.

Rooms were clean and spacious.

Somewhat limited free parking available.

The limited staff were friendlier and more accomodating than 4-star hotel staff in bigger cities like New York.

There was a self-service breakfast area with basic fresh foods and microwavable breakfast sandwiches.

The only slight complaint is the lack of soundproofing: I heard every cough, sneeze and flush several rooms down the hallway. Thankfully that's all I was treated to...

The hotel serves its pupose; clean, inexpensive, basic accomodations for a short business stay. It's certainly not a vacation spot or a resort.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn the evening before our flight because we got a great deal on priceline.com. It was clean and located conveniently close to the airport. The rooms were clean and spacious. Desk staff were friendly and warm.

My wife and I were traveling to see family and needed a place to stay that was near the airport. What a great location this property is. The level of service I received was spot on! I am in the food industry and I am constantly critiquing being in the service industry. This property is run very well. The rooms are very clean with a warm and inviting decor. The property recently was renovated from what the front desk staff had said. The only thing that they should think about doing is making the breakfest room larger. There was a large group in and it made for a congested morning meal.

  • Liked — friendly staff
  • Disliked — larger breakfast area seats only 30-40 people
