“Beautiful Inn with outstanding hospitality!”
Reviewed 28 June 2010

Stayed here with 3 friends on a trip up to Bike Week in June. Michelle and Don couldn't have been nicer, they carried our bags, made us a delicious breakfast every morning, gave us directions, sun screen, cold beer and water anytime, and Don even push started one of our motorcycles that's battery had died. In addition to all that...the room was air conditioned, comfortable and extremely clean and well stocked. The grounds are lovely, with huge pots of super 'tunias, perennials and a gorgeous view of the lake from the back porch swing. We will be going back.....

The Ballard House is a great place to stay. Don and Michelle made me feel right at home! If they were going to the store they always asked if I needed anything. Breakfast was also very good. Michelle makes tasty banana bread! Don even went golfing with our group one day (and let us win LOL). My room and the rest of the Inn were neat, clean and cozy. Their wrap around porch is a relaxing place to hang out and have a cocktail or two! There is too much to do in the shot time I was there, so I’ll defiantly be back. The best part is just having a place that feels like home to go back to at the end of the day!

The Ballard House was a home away from home. Michelle and Don invited us to chat with them on the back porch overlooking one of the area’s lakes before suggesting we go to dinner at the Canoe (a restaurant so good we went back the next day to try other dishes – Friday and Saturday nights, get the prime rib and definitely try the Thai calamari). The house itself, built in the late 1700s, was fully modernized with a full-size HD TV above the original fireplace, but still kept the original character with timber beams and exposed iron fixtures. Our accommodations were outstanding, with a full suite off the bedroom and decorations that described the New Hampshire lakes area. When we wanted to go canoeing, Don suggested we try the smaller Opechee Bay, where we wouldn’t see as many waves as in Lake Winnipesaukee – and it was a perfect day to be out on the water. Breakfast was great, with potatoes and eggs (though they mentioned the menu is going to change almost every day). Don and Michelle, who have lived in the area their whole lives, made it their jobs to ensure we had a great, relaxing vacation while still telling us about the area’s character. We’ll definitely be back to the Lakes region and Ballard House is where we’ll be staying.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay. Ballard House Inn is bright and charming. The Winnipesaukee suite was a great place for us to relax and unwind. Magnificent views too! Don and Michelle made us very welcome and went out of their way to be sure we were satisfied with our visit. We will be traveling to Meredith again in the near future and we will certainly stay again. The breakfast was a real treat and nicely done.

After a busy day in the lakes region, the Ballard House Inn was a welcomed surprise. The location was ideal for our weekend away. It's traditional feel with a modern twist made our night one of the best when away from home. The owners were great, knew a lot about the area, and were always smiling. This truly is one of Meredith's best!
