“Ok for a night”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Only stayed for a night and the lodge has some positives and some negatives. Checkin is at the Lazy E motel - something I did not know and was told by another guest when I arrived. Not wanting to drive back - I had driven most of the day, I used the phone on the wall and contacted the motel, keys and forms requiring my signature were delivered to me on site. I booked through a 3rd party provider, so understand that the information would not be available as it is available on their main website. Ok, checkin completed, the room on the whole sets you up for a nights stay - hot shower, fridge, microwave, wifi, plates, cutlery and a hairdryer. However, the heating vent in the bathroom was rusted, so not a great look, and I had to pop down to the Lazy E to pick up new sheets as I suspected that linen had not been changed since the last occupant - defiantly not the pillows. I had to contact the same gentlemen via the phone on the wall at this property to request the new linen. Arrived within 5 minutes of the phone call - this property looked closed for the season, and was very apologetic. Security wise, would not recommend it for a solo female traveller like myself. I am a seasoned and accomplished traveler, but even I slept light knowing that there was only a push button lock between me and the outside world and the location is pretty isolated even though being on a main road - not a lot noise from traffic by the way.

If you are looking for a comfortable bed and not much else, this is a good bet. There is a small TV (with cable), WiFi, tiny fridge and microwave, dishware for 4. It had a queen bed and trundle for another 1 or 2. The bathroom is tiny and the shower is about the size of a phone booth. Both, however, were immaculate. The place has no reception - you have to sign-in and get the key at the Lazy E motel about 3 miles south on Rte. 3. The people, however, are terrific. I had an issue with Priceline that they handled for me without my asking them to. There is also a breakfast joint across the street called Griddle in the Middle. Pretty good, but a little pricey. BOTTOM LINE: At about $100, its a bargain for Winnipesaukee. I would definitely stay there again.

Basic room but clean and comfortable. Phone and tv. VERY small shower.
Check in was at the Lazy E Motel about a 6 minutes drive away. Gravel parking lot. Motel is located right off the main road going into Weirs Beach about halfway between Weirs Beach and Meredith. Breakfast and Lunch place across the road but anything else requires driving to it.
It is a place to sleep and that is all but if that's all you need, this is a great place.

Had a very nice stay here, the staff were extremely friendly. We had an issue with our shower being broken by a previous tenant but maintenance promptly came to fix it. Great location, right down the street from Weirs Beach and downtown Meridith where there are a couple nice restaurants and shops.

There are different size rooms in this complex; an efficiency, a bedroom with a living room suite and one larger suite and they are priced accordingly which means little money is only if you get the efficiency. They have kitchenettes in them. They are decorated with bears, of course. It was very clean and someone came to clean everyday, but checking in was a pain in the patootie. You had to go to the other location owned by the company which I can't even remember the name of now. It's several miles away near Weirs Beach to get the key then drive back to the lodge to put your stuff in. I own a huge truck which barely got in the parking lot. When it poured there was a problem with mud tracking through the room. Unfortunately it was the only place available that weekend.

The lodge was basic to say the least. It was clean and the lady that checked us in was really very nice. What I would ask, is what are you expecting? If you want somewhere just to sleep for the night then its fine. If you want more I would suggest you either look at somewhere either in the centre of Meredith or Weirs Beach. When we arrived we were surprised to find that we had to drive about 5 miles to check in (there is no-one on site). Don't rely on your sat nav as it doesn't take you to the lodge. Its about 2 miles from Meredith and about 3 miles from Weirs beach and there is nowhere you can walk to for either a meal or anything. The review I read suggested that it appeared to be in a wooded area - it is but there is a very busy road about 20 yards from your room. I am quite small - about 5' 3" and 8.5 stone (120lb if you are from the USA) - and I found it very difficult to have a shower because it was so small. Overall I would suggest paying a little extra because I think what you get from the Bear Lodge is over priced for what you get which is basically a bed. We stayed for 2 nights and could not wait to move on.
