From the beginning, my wife Robin and I were treated like family or old friends. Mark and Lynne had just finished a renovation that included copper piping, sprinklers and smoke detectors throughout--all aesthetically and meticulously done. Because we have our own sawmill, we discussed the beautiful woodwork visible everywhere, from the 12" to 16" wide pine floorboards to the rough-hewn hardwood beams everywhere. We even inspected the newly-installed state of the art drainage field, worthy of a small hotel double the size of Nutmeg Inn. (No drain backup here for at least 100 years!)
Surfaces sparkled or glowed softly. Though I did not play any pool or billiards, the color of the 100 year old table caused aesthetic arrest every time I passed through the room to the deck outside. I did swim in the nicely set in-ground pool, and found it refreshing, and suitable for doing laps; though children could also safely enjoy the shallow end.
The poached pears at breakfast were perfect, as was the souffle; cinnamon french toast to die for! Coffee well-made (we are snobs used to shade-grown and fresh-brewed) available in thermoses as you wish, along with homemade muffins, and biscuits and spread. Everything top-end and very thoughtfully done! (Five Stars!)More
