B&B's represent a significant kind of vacation selection. I've been to many and this one is at the very top of the list. Shannon & Tom Fairchild have created the exact kind of resort that you think of when you hear the phrase "B&B." From the moment you make your reservation until you're leaving their parking area for the last time, you've been made to feel both welcome and comfortable.

This is a family run operation that is closely supervised by the owners so that your every need is either met or anticipated. Need a toothbrush? Forget your razor? Prefer tea to coffee--what kind? It's all here. Immaculate rooms with a/c in most (I think only one room doesn't offer a/c) and a wonderful breakfast to start your day. Our first morning we were served bacon and eggs--and I must tell you that the bacon was so good that I was directed to the source (an outdoor weekend farmer's market) where I loaded up that weekend to enjoy after my return home.

If you're in the area, this is the place to stay. Tom and Shannon go out of their way to make you feel comfortable in their area of the world which is a mix of American and British (Tom being the Brit) sensibility and decoration. Perfect for the kids with farm animals on the property and lots to see and do in the area much of it centered around beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee.

A winner!

What a great place! This is our 4th visit, and we will be back again. This place reminds us of the sort of thing you'd find in Europe, or perhaps on Martha's Vineyard. It is quaint and beautiful, but rustic and charming. We stayed in the cottage this time, and it's a quirky mix of luxury (crisp cotton sheets and worlds softest, fluffiest towels), and simple (bare floorboards, wooden counters, vintage cabinets, windows older than God). It's not for everyone but perfect for our well-traveled family of three! The apple orchards and animals are an added bonus, not to mention the excellent restaurant, The Woodshed, within short walking distance.

In 2001, my wife and I chose autumn leaf-looking in New Hampshire as the backdrop for our honeymoon. We motored around the state, stopping over at BBs in the Merrimack Valley, the Lake Region and the White Mountains. Of all the BBs, our favorite was, and still is Moultonborough’s Olde Orchard Inn. Our first stay was so memorable that we made this Inn the hub of three subsequent anniversary getaways, the latest in 2012. And we’re planning another just like it.

We savour the good feelings that come with leisurely strolls on colorful fall afternoons through the Inn’s ancient apple groves; then making a fuss over Shannon and Tom’s frisky barnyard critters; eating the best prime rib at a close-by restaurant, and returning to the Inn through the crisp evening air to our warm, comfortable and charming room. Just like going home.

And after a restful night’s sleep and wonderful, home-made breakfast served with innkeeper smiles, friendly chit-chat, and touring suggestions - the relaxing drives around Lake Winnipesauke and Squam Lake and to nearby places like Conway, Ossipee and the White Lake State Park. All with multiple opportunities for frequent stopping to soak in Mother Nature’s palette, grab a snack, explore covered bridges and have lunch.

October in the Lake Region at the Olde Orchard Inn can’t be beat.

I was trying to find a B&B for a last minute excursion to NH and wasn't having much luck given that we had 3 people and only wanted one night. While Olde Orchard also has a minimum stay on weekends their website also said to call within 24 hours to check on a single night stay. As it turns out, they did have an opening and it was for a large upstairs room with a king and a twin tucked in an alcove. Shannon "warned" me as I was booking that there would be a concert outside the adjacent barn that evening with 2 Berklee students performing but that was fine with us.

What a perfect evening it turned out to be! The room was big, bright, soothingly decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was large and well appointed. The inn itself is lovely and is set in a gorgeous orchard out in the country away from any road noise. The concert turned about to be a local girl who returned to her hometown to perform with her friend. Not only was the music great but the setting with the barn as a backdrop made it really special. Shannon is super-friendly and breakfast was delicious with farm eggs and home-baked goodies. The main reason for our trip was a hike in the mountains the next day but the stay at Olde Orchard Inn was what really made the trip wonderful.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Old Orchard Inn while we were attending a family reunion near Moultonborough. The property is in a rural setting, we took a walk down to the lake, it's a 45 minute walk round trip.
Our room was nicely decorated.... our "Closet Shower", well it would be hard to retrieve the soap if you dropped it, it was a bit snug in there. Everything in our room was clean and lots of little things to make your stay a good one. We stayed in Macoun, my 1 suggestion would be that if you have trouble with stairs, request a room on the main floor, the stairs are quite steep, especially carrying a suitcase.
Breakfast was served at 8:30, we started with fresh fruit and yogurt, juice and coffee, then French Toast and sausages. The breakfast was well presented and tasty.
If we are ever in the area, we would not hesitate to book a room at the Old Orchard Inn again.

I'm so glad we stayed here, lovely b&b, beautiful area.
Normally I don't visit b&b's with kids but the Old Orchard looked so nice and Shannon was so helpful from booking to check out that I'm happy we did! We had a lovely room upstairs with our 3 kids sharing the room next door.
The area is beautiful, we took a trip to Franconia notch in the White Mountains and went
biking (spotting a moose!) and explored the lakes. Meredith is a nice town to have dinner.

When we arrived we were greeted by Chutney, Zoe, and Scout (three resident pygmy goats) and their fellow free ranging rooster and hens. The backdrop to these idyllic farm animals, who were straight out of central casting, was a picturesque apple orchard corralled within a stonewall, a lovely rustic barn, and beautiful gardens leading up to the front door of the well appointed main house where we stayed. We truly felt like we had walked into a Norman Rockwell painting that extended to the living room common areas with classic furniture and bookshelves filled with wonderful reading material and games. When we got to our room we continued to be amazed at our good fortune of finding this place. If you are in need of a place to rest for the night in this area, you must try to stay at this inn.
