“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful the hotel was and it's a national landmark as well. The rooms are beautiful and the common areas are gorgeous. The grounds are filled with flowers and the staff seems to bend over backwards to help.there is a spa and an indoor pool, they seem to be a little strict about there spa policies but that's ok. We are on the concierge floor so we have soda and free drinks all the time, that works out quite well. Our room is very comfortable, the bed has comfortable sheets, the room has a view of the ocean, who could ask for more. Two thumbs up!,

Marriott hotel was as expected. Very comfortable beds in an Old world setting. Bathrooms modern and clean. Spa was not top of the line but adequate. Food was excellent, egg white frittata best I have had. Weekend buffet reasonable and delicious. Only negative were two rooms, 207, 211 the vibrations from the band during bridal banquets were disturbing but fortunately ended early enough. Room 228 was fine, over looked bridal bower -apparently a popular wedding destination. The grounds, the marina were all beautiful. Sorry we did not get to eat at Latitude. It may have been fine but with children we were not sure how it would go. Indoor and outdoor swimming a hit as was the golf. Kittery, and Portsmouth, Strawberry BAnke are close by.

The wedding cocktail and reception party took place at this charming hotel. Although we did not stay the night in the room but we stayed partying all night. The staff at the bar during the cocktail were great. One of the guys called Mike was super excited and had a lot of questions concerning our outfit and tradition which we were happy to answer. The kitchen staff did a fantastic job both in the preparation and presentIon of the meal. The ballroom was well laid out and nicely decorated. We had a great time dancing and literally brought the room down.

We went for the Sunday brunch for our anniversary and had a very enjoyable experience. Reserved or 10AM and went right in at opening. Didn't realize it but there are better seats in the areas to the left of the main room if you like a little sunshine at your table. We sat in the main room and it was nice and elegant. The staff in the buffet were attentive, bringing us coffee and mimosas as needed. Yes the drinks are included in the price! The mimosas were made with Wyclef champagne which is a great choice in the $6 a bottle category. Most of the food was of above average quality with lots of seafood, chicken, buffalo steak, chicken, swordfish, omelets, fresh fruits, and deserts. The room is very nicely appointed and it is kept very clean.

The Wentworth property is by the sea, but there weren't any sea views that we noticed. It is very nice and there are a few places to go for a stroll down to the docks to see the yachts which we enjoyed on our romantic morning. The staff seemed very nice and helpful all around. I highly recommend stopping in for the brunch and a stroll.

My wife and I, along with another couple, took a 3 day golf trip to Wentworth. The hotel was fantastic, expensive, but you get what you pay for.
We arrived to a valet who was eager to help but not pushy. We arrived 2 hrs ahead of check in time and our room was ready. The lobby and halls were spotless and upscale. Rooms were spacious and views were perfect. The bed was a little tired, but we were told the hotel is getting a major refresh in the fall of '14.
On site restaurants were fantastic. We had lunch and dinner at Salt and the food was incredible...as good as any 4.5 star restaurant.
The hotel is a 2 minute drive to the golf course and only 10 minutes from downtown Portsmouth. A great place to stay for a quick get a way.

We were really looking forward to a one night stay here -to celebrate my husband's birthday. The nightly room rate for any room here - is beyond our budget. So I used points and a cash upgrade fee of $200.00.

We arrived and George the Concierge could not have been nicer. Check in went smoothly.
Then we got to our room. It was a king suite with a direct view of the hotel air conditioning system and vent system. Not nice. And the room had a second door that opened to a staircase diectly to the ballroom. The staircase was littered with old food plates and glasses. Probably from the night before.
This being a Saturday - I called the front desk- concerned that there would be an event that night adjacent to our room (we have a young child) - weddings can get loud and a secret staircase in the ballroom is probably an interest point to wedding guests. Anyway, the front desk assured me that no event was scheduled for that night and the ballroom would be quiet .

We go out to dinner- come back at 7.....and of course on a Saturday night in August...a wedding reception is in full swing.

Room 223 is a fantastic room for a bride and groom, if you don't mind the view. It allows you to go to and from your event without having to leave your guests.

It is not a good room for anyone not attending an event in the ballroom. It is loud and not private.

I did call the front desk immediately and was offered to move to a marina suite, which I think was the only thing available. The woman at the front desk was very accommodating and the bell staff was great about moving our things. The marina suites are amazing. And I know I would never be able to afford this type of suite, so I appreciate the space.

The hotel is expensive- I'm not sure the price is justified. It is pretty. The pool is nice. The front desk staff is nice. The pool bar and waitstaff is very slow 45 minutes for drinks and we counted 7 people working at the bar and it was 5pm with only 2 people actually in the pool. The staff did apologize and admit that they forgot about our food and drink order.

I'm glad I checked out this hotel. We stay primarily in Marriott hotels. I'm just not sure the price here is justified. Just my opinion :)

Enjoyed a delightful weekend here with my better half. Every meal was outstanding. Loved the Bubbles and Jazz brunch, wonderful quality and selection of foods. Due to the excess consumption of bubbles, we walked over to the marina after and took a fascinating river tour by boat with Captain and Patty's. The captain, being a native, was very knowledgeable of the area, local politics and history. The tour was relaxing, beautiful and fascinating and was a highlight. We also enjoyed walking around Portsmouth, an old historic town 10 minutes from Wentworth-by-the-Sea (be sure to visit the wonderful store Salt Cellar which sells unusual but amazing items made from exotic salts and is located in the cellar).
