“Ghetto Pool and hot tub area!”
Reviewed 24 August 2013 via mobile

Booked a last min getaway with husband and 5 yr old.
Arrived about 4pm and headed straight to pool, as my son was super excited to swim.
In short, it was disgusting! At first glance there was an overabundance of debris floating in the water. I went and asked someone to skim it, and in all fairness, someone did come right out and do it. It was only part of the problem. When we got it it became clear that the pool was in completley horrible shape. The liner was lifting up and almost floating to surface in some areas. It was really really run down and just gross. So much for relaxing by the pool area. It was a major dissapointment. Sat we went off on some fun excursions and came home and watched an hour of tv inside the room before dinner as opposed to enjoying the pool area.
Which brings me to the room. Our first night we were in a room above the kitchen. It was last minute booked and the woman i spoke with on the phone told me it was the last toom avail and warned me there was a "slight humming noise from kitchen fan which most people didnt even notice and was turned off at 9:00pm". It sounded more like a jet engine taking off, and was on until 11:00pm and was turned back on at 5:59am. Needless to say the first night was a nightmare. This was the same woman who told me the pool area was "nice" and "updated recently".
Called front desk and the said they would give us a 10 perc disc and i said it should be more and we would have to leave. They then offered a 20 perc disc and agreed to move our room. So we are here now just waiting to head to supper and hoping tonight is a more pleasant exp.
and the entire place smells like garlic not in a good way.
overall would not return in a million years. Full
Renovation is needed.

Thank you for taking the time to review & I am sorry you didn't enjoy the pool or you room on the first night of your stay. I am pleased that your guest room was moved and upgraded for you complimentary on your second night, and I do hope that room was satisfactory.

I am sorry you didn't enjoy the pool. I can assure you that our maintenance staff follows all regulations for pool cleaning and maintenance as required by the state. The pool & pool area are checked several times throughout the day during routine maintenance checks, and our Assistant GM personally checked the pool on the day you were there. I agree there are pine trees on our property and when the wind blows, the needles can blow into the pool. We do our utmost to keep the pool skimmed.

I truly do hope you enjoyed the remainder if your stay, and hope to have you as our guest in the future.

Because we have a family of five, we stayed in one of the suites. It was was plenty big enough and was very nice. The kids loved the heated pool and hot tub and my husband and I loved the poolside drinks and food service. The scenery is beautiful and there is plenty of hiking and shopping close by. Would definitely come back to stay again.

So pleased to read that you & your family enjoyed your suite, breakfast, pool, Jacuzzi and fire pit. These amenities have always been such a great hit with families.
I hope to see you on your return visit. Carol

Really enjoyed the beautiful location, wish we could have stayed longer. We were looking for a place close to the outlets and the "Kank" highway, great location. The front lawn has an amazing picture opportunity with a gazebo, cliffs behind and hills in front, lovely. Breakfast room was gorgeous and the service and food were excellent. Room was nice and clean, comfy beds. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Try for the top floor to get a better view.

Great location, it's away from the noise and traffic of North Conway yet 5 minutes from everything there is to do here. Great 9 hole course, superb dining and nicely appointed rooms. We stayed here when it first opened maybe twenty ago, it was great then and has stayed consistently beautiful. Don't tell your friends about this place :)

We are just back from a wonderful long weekend at the WMH. Our first time here was a winter stay so it was nice to come back and experience it in the summer. My husband works with a friend of the owner. We didn’t mention that but we still got the royal treatment! The service is absolutely terrific. There are so many things to love about this place. It’s classy but not stuffy. It’s very clean and the location and the grounds are stunning. The food is wonderful. The staff is professional and accommodating, yet laid back, a great combo! It was a very comfortable stay.

It was definitely busy. There were two weddings during our stay and lots of families with children. We went to Story Land for the first time. It’s so close by. We mini-golfed , shopped (love Zeb’s!), and hung out at the pool. Our 8 yo is a fish!

When we reviewed the first time, I mentioned new mattresses would be nice. I still found ours soft and a bit lumpy. We were in 222 and you do hear foot traffic. We may try for the third floor next visit.

It would have been nice to meet you, Sully. We did ask if you were around but were told you were not. Maybe next time!

We had a wonderful stay at the White Mountain Hotel and Resort. Our stay was too short, but it was quite relaxing. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and had great experiences both times - great food and great service. The grounds are breath taking!!!!!

My wife and I have gone to the White Mountain Hotel three years running for April, off-season stays. We go for an annual wine tasting dinner weekend. The weekend activities at the hotel are great but we tend to get out to go hiking and shopping.

The hotel itself is perfectly situated in the N. Conway area to take advantage of any season. April is a funny month in this area where we've gone snow-shoeing one year and have sat around the pool in other years. Hikers can take advantage of the Cathedral Ledge hiking trail right from the hotel. It is a moderate 2 - 3 hour hike that includes two ledges and Echo Lake. Afterwards, head to the bar for a beer ; ^ )

The rooms are comfortable and spacious. No complaints at all. The general atmosphere is not stuffy and the staff are very helpful. The owners are hands on people and seem to always be around. Take advantage of a terrific Sunday Brunch. We've never had any bad experiences during any of our stays and will be heading back again.

Room Tip: Either side of the hotel is OK so don't pay extra for a view. Just go to the restaurant, pool an...
