After a full day of shopping it was nice to sit in the library and enjoy some hors d'oeuvres and awesome martinis with Michael, our bartender. Then we relaxed in our room before a fabulous dinner at the restaurant with Meredith, our waitress. Then in the morning we had a very nice experience at breakfast with Lisa. My husband and I would definitely return. The service was great and the people were so nice. And thanks to Leona on the telephone for making our arrangements for our first visit so pleasant. Thanks all!! See you again.

After each stay we look forward to our next. Warm and inviting atmosphere with a dining experience that challenges any five star restaurant. Beautifully decorated for each season. The staff are all very friendly and professional. The library/lounge is most comfortable, providing a friendly atmosphere where friends can gather and also meet new ones.

The main building of the Inn is well preserved. The food was tasty and well prepared.
The room we were put in for $175/night in the off season was incredibly disappointing. It was small, cramped, outdated to say the least. It is connected to the main Inn physically but you still have to walk around the outside of the building to get to the Inn for meals.
YOU CAN HEAR EVERY SYLLABLE UTTERED IN THE ADJOINING ROOMS! We had people on both sides of us and above us as well. All had dogs, but thankfully all the dogs were well behaved. We now know the name of all the dogs as well as every other detail that was put into words. I CANT OVERSTATE THIS ENOUGH. With all the traveling I have done in my life, this place wins the 'transparent wall' award hands down. Luckily we had earplugs and headphones, to sleep so we were ok.
The bathroom: The outlet over the sink has no ground fault adaptor. This means that if you have kids you need to be sure that nothing is plugged in there. Very dangerous.
2 prong outlets throughout. If you want to plug in something made since the 70's your out of luck, or bring your own adaptors. The ice bucket had no liner so you get the pleasure of walking it to the office, waiting your turn in line, handing it to the innkeeper, having her disappear into the back and re-emerge later with your ice. Unsanitary.
The beds: Personal preference here. I enjoy a firm bed and these were VERY firm, so I was happy with that.
The furniture and fixtures looked like they were purchased from the Christmas tree shop. Nothing old or quaint or quality in this room.
Security: Old style brass key (1) with no deadbolt, double lock or even a chain. So, anybody with a credit card or license could just jimmy the open the door and walk right in. Amazing.
Blinds: Old wooden slat style blinds over the windows, so no light blocking at all.
Windows: Could not be opened for fresh air because the old style glass storm windows had been screwed on to the outside for winter.
In summary: Many people rave about this place, and perhaps the Inn is all that and a bag of chips, but the experience we had and the price we paid will insure that we never return. If the place were mine, I would close this whole wing and renovate it to bring it up to code and figure out a way to add sound insulation.

Room Tip: Stay in the main Inn ONLY!!!

Beautiful setting and views….gorgeous landscaping……historic, unbelievable architecture- all wonderfully maintained and beautifully decorated for every season. The dining is terrific and the drinks are even better! ;-) The dining rooms are warm and inviting, and the library/martini lounge is extremely comfy. The guest rooms are all unique and retain their historic charm along with the modern conveniences. (Check out the photos on the Stonehurst website- they’re actually up to date and will give you a good idea on just how beautiful this place is.) The service is excellent- everyone is extremely well trained but also friendly and welcoming. This is a place where you’ll be remembered and welcomed back by everyone. Their location is ideal- up on a hill with great mountain views……very close to North Conway village and all the shops, etc. and also very convenient access to all the Mount Washington area sites. Whether you want a gorgeous venue for a wedding, a perfect romantic getaway spot, or simply a fabulous place for dinner and drinks, the beauty, service and charm of the Stonehurst and its wonderful staff should fit the bill. We speak from experience- we had an awesome wedding weekend there in August and have enjoyed multiple getaways as well. Our friends and family have also fallen for the place and several have already returned for anniversaries, etc. Sincerely, the "King and Queen"

My husband and I, along with our two Siberian's have stayed at the Stonehurst dozens of times throughout the years. It is by far our favorite place to visit. The Manor is beautiful, cozy, warm and inviting. The staff are wonderful, polished, professional, friendly and kind. The food is beyond copare... absolutely amazing culinary creations and always a perfect dining experience. The Inn itself is decorated beautifully, very clean and updated while maintaining a "home" feeling. The location of the Inn is perfect as well and they have a perfect view of Mt. Washington. There are dozens of hotels and Inns in the area and I would not even consider staying anywhere else.

We understand well what it’s like to travel with your pets as we have them here with us at the front desk! Knowing that you have a home away from home is not only comforting for you but for your pet and that certainly makes all the difference. On your next visit, make sure to stop in the lounge for our complimentary Hor d'oeuvres party which we offer nightly from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm (Saturdays 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm). Chef Avi Deiter and his culinary staff dazzle with tasty bites to intrigue your appetite.

We live in the area, and the lovely restaurant at Stonehurst is a favorite. Our first time guests loved our dining experience last weekend. Denise was a friendly and competent server. We all ordered different entrees and we were completely satisfied. I love being able to order two of their wonderful appetizers and a salad for the price of a dinner. Great portions and wonderful flavors all topped off by the chocolate bomb cake which three of us shared and failed to finish. We have dined here over many years and friendly service and consistently wonderful food are their hallmark.

Room Tip: We did not stay in th Inn, we live in the area.

We pride ourselves in being a local favorite. Over the 35+ years that we have been here serving our community, we are proud to know that we are chosen to be the place of memories, events, first dates, anniversaries and even just a relaxing night out.
We understand the holiday season is busy, but if you are able to join us for dinner soon, we are offering a wonderful new dessert! Spice Cake Roulade with Eggnog Buttercream, Cinnamon Anglaise and Toasty Coconut & Caramel Ice Cream—sounds too delicious to share.
Patrons such as you are truly are backbone and we appreciate your business.

The Manor is an impressive building and the staff friendly. I have been to Stonehurst before so I'm a returning guest. I love the generous fire that's always burning in the fireplace during the fall and winter and the location of the Manor beside the snowshoeing/x-country skiing/biking/hiking trails is perfect. I've noticed a lack of attention to detail in the cleaning with spider webs, dust and un-vacuumed carpets an apparent mainstay, even in the dining spaces. Even after other reviews to request that a vegetarian option be put on the menu there still isn't one and the chefs substitutions are mediocre. We stayed for two nights and two mornings and both days the dinner and breakfast specials were identical. Perhaps a mainstay and not a special is being offered here? Room 24 is a poor option for a good nights rest as it is directly above the office and entry way and there is activity from the wee hours of the morning until the late hours of night. This room should be made into a public sitting area. I also think the desk should show people to their rooms and orient guests to the Manor. This was not done for us.

Room Tip: The third floor of the Manor is quietest. The higher numbered rooms in the 30"s would be the be...

We really do wish you had voiced your concerns while you were here. We would have loved to offer you a room on the third floor so you could have been right next to your friends. We do have many vegetarian items on our menu and our Chef is more than happy to specially prepare anything to accommodate any dietary request.
If you decide to give us a second chance and would like to stay with us again, please give us a call and we will make sure that your stay is enjoyable.
