“Our second stay, and certainly not last.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2011

This was our second stay at the Buttonwood Inn. The first time we visited was in the winter, so this was a whole new experience...and it certainly did not disappoint. Bill and Paula, the owners, are such great hosts and they make you feel right at home. The inn has many personal touches that a hotel just cannot touch. There are tons of B&B's in the area, but this one has a perfect location. Its off the beaten path a bit so that you get the nice NH wooded feel, but is five minutes from North Conway's main strip. I would recommend the Buttonwood Inn to anyone staying in the Conway area.

We stayed at the Buttonwood Inn in North Conway this past Memorial Day
weekend. Its a very convenient location to explore the Mount Washington area
, tucked away in a quiet part of town , but still close enough to all the activities the area has to offer. My husband and I loved the inn and the peace and quiet was just
what the doctor ordered.Bill and Paula are very friendly and are very
helpful with their recommendations and are knowledgeable about the Mount
Washington area.

The Mount Surprise room is well equipped with movies (a great collection!),books, games, etc.Paula's baked goodies are delicious and it was fun to chat with Bill at breakfast. If you are in the Mount Washington area, this would be a very
good place to stay....its spic and span, has all the amenities you need -
including a swimming pool and jacuzzi....a great place to stay and enjoy the Mount Washington area.We would definitely come back here another time and
recommend this inn highly.

If you are ever in New Hampshire, this is the place to stay. There are numerous trailheads just outside the door; yet it is less than ten minutes from Conway, a sizeable town where you can find anything you may require. It is fantastic for couples looking for a romantic weekend away, or a passerby in need of a place to stay, and everyone in between. Enjoy Paula's delectable breakfasts which you will dearly miss once you return home.

This was a spur of the moment decision to return to the Buttonwood and once again our expectations were not only met but exceeded. Bill and Paula really make the Inn feel like you are being welcomed into their home. We passed Paula on the road to the Inn and having recognized us, placed a call to Bill saying we were on our way. Not many hosts are that observant and from our several visits, we truly consider Bill and Paula to be our friends. It is difficult to find consistency in today's world, but the Buttonwood exemplifies this. From the personal greetings, the breakfast banter with Bill, the gourmet breakfasts from Paula to the overall atmosphere of the Inn, this is a favourite place for us to stay. I would highly recommend the Inn to anyone looking for that special spot with lots to offer.

Innkeepers Bill and Paula Petrone are without equal as Bed & Breakfast proprietors. Bill and Paula are warm, engaging, likeable, knowledgeable, and informative innkeepers who go the extra distance to ensure that each room is immaculate, that breakfasts are outstanding, that guests have their day’s activities planned out, and that the inn is warm and inviting. Paula’s gourmet breakfasts are delicious, creative, and healthy. She is not only able to accommodate different dietary needs, such as vegan and vegetarian diets, she makes sure that vegan and vegetarian breakfasts are every bit as delicious, creative, and healthy as any other breakfast she may prepare. Bill chats with the guests each morning, giving them “insiders” tips as needed, to ensure their day goes smoothly and is also able to direct guests towards “off-the-beaten path” and undiscovered fun. The innkeepers spare no expense to ensure that their guests have a wonderful and memorable stay.
The Buttonwood Inn itself is a great combination of old-world charm and new-world functionality. The décor reminds one of a turn of the century inn, while the plumbing and electrical are modern. Internet access via Wi-Fi ensures guests that they won’t be disconnected from the outside world during their visit unless they so choose. The rooms are always immaculately clean, towels soft and fresh, and the décor of each room is warm and unique, without being over-the-top cutesy, as rooms in so many B&B’s are.
I am a full-time professional nature and landscape photographer and constantly travel around the nation. I typically spend 60 or so nights each year on the road and stay in any number of motels, hotels, and B&Bs. The Buttonwood Inn is always at the top of my list. I’ve been staying at the Buttonwood Inn during my visits to New Hampshire since 2008, and I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when visiting. I assure you, your first stay at the Buttonwood Inn will not be your last. It’s wonderful experience that I’m sure you’re likely to repeat.
The Buttonwood Inn also offers various stay and play type packages, such as photography packages, maple sugaring packages, and many other packages. When planning your stay at the Buttonwood, make sure you check out their packages and workshops page, and sign up for some extra fun!

Buttonwood Inn on Mt. Surprise was the perfect location for a relaxing weekend getaway. As soon as we got to the inn, Bill and Paula personally greeted us and helped us settle in right away. Bill took us on a tour of the inn and brought us to our perfect room (number 6). He is very knowledgeable of the area and can give great advice on things to do and directions to any place you want to go. When we got to our room, we found it to be very clean and cozy. My mother had called the inn on short notice and asked Bill and Paula to get a bottle of champagne for my new fiancee and me as an engagement gift. Even though they only had about two hours until we arrived, there was a bottle of champagne in ice waiting for us in our room. Each morning Paula cooked a delicious and filling breakfast that could not be missed. Bill and Paula are so accommodating and went out of their way to make our weekend enjoyable. We are used to spending our weekend getaways in a hotel, but now we will definitely be staying at the inn when we travel to North Conway again!

We stayed with Bill & Paula for 5 nights in early May 2011. This was our first trip to the white moutains so Bill & Paula's welcome made us feel very much at home, and a great start to exploring the area. The Inn is beautiful, set in large grounds, and if you like small walks there are a few right on the doorstep, for those that like the larger all day hikes, they are all around a short drive away, and of different levels, so perfect for all levels/distances. The Inn is extremely comfortable and there are plenty of areas to relax, a lounge with TV, and also one without. Now to Paula's breakfasts..outstanding... nice mix of sweet and savory and a good start to your day. Paula kindly sent us one receipe, I'm looking forward to trying it now we're home.
The local taxi service is very fast and efficient, and takes 2 -5 mins to get into North Conway for a night out, so you don't have to stay in town have access to the great bars in town.
