“Relaxing in the North Country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

We spent 4 days at Tall Timber Lodge and enjoyed it immensely. I had been there in years past with my Dad and decided it was time to return with my wife. The cabin was on the water, rustic yet cozy, the food at the Rainbow Grille was 5 star, the weather was great. Heard the Loons each night; what a wonderful sound. Fishing was a bit disappointing but fun none the less. We fished every day either in kayaks at small ponds or rental boats at TTL. We have already made reservations for next year, same cabin(Alder) but for a few more days. Can't wait!

Room Tip: Lake front cabins are the only way to go. Several lodge suites are also lakeside.

Thank you again for returning to stay with us, and we're glad that you and your wife had a relaxing four days with us. It's not too surprising that the fishing was a bit slow while you were here, but you haven't been alone there. The trout fishing on our lake is typically slow at this point in the summer, when the water temperature is at its warmest.

We look forward to having you stay with us again next year and hopefully we'll have some more cooperative fish when the time comes!

Tom Caron

We have been going to Tall Timber at least once a year for about 8 years. We greatly enjoy the cabins, the Rainbow Grille and the opportunity to go fishing as well as see lots of wildlife, up close. All the modern amenities in a peaceful, lodge resort setting.

We just returned from a week long stay in the "Gramp's" cabin at Tall Timber on beautiful Back Lake in Pittsburg, NH. Our log cabin was right on the lake with kayak access, fishing from the shore, and all of the comforts of home - including a full kitchen and a jacuzzi tub! We made good use of the charcoal grill while watching the sunset. This is the third time we have stayed at Tall Timber, and intend to go back next summer for another summer getaway. Each time we stay, we make reservations at the Rainbow Grill. Excellent food, service and country ambiance. Love the daily specials that include a "game" item on the menu. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For a quiet getaway in the midst of nature, we truly recommend staying in one of the Tall Timber cabins.

Our trip was a family trip, 3 of our childern and their spouses and childern. We were able to stay close by each other, except for one family that was about 1/2 mile away from us. We did enjoy ourselves with the beach and paddle boats, moose/deer/turket and rabbits sightings. Each place had a fire pit and a charcoal grills. Teh grounds were very clean and their was clean towels daily.

We have stayed At Tall Timber every year for the last 3 or 4 years. We love the lake home "What A View" and oh what a view it has! Nothing like sitting on the deck looking out over Back Lake and watching the beautiful sunrise or sunset! Hearing the Loons was awesome too! We love going to the Rainbow Grille also. Great food and atmosphere! The staff is is friendly too! I can't wait to go back!

Carol,

Thank you again for staying with us last weekend. We're glad that you escaped for some rest and relaxation at Whataview. It certainly is a great part of Back Lake to be on, and the view is pretty special.

We look forward to having you stay with us again in the future.

We stayed at this beautiful lakeside house on four occasions in the past. Three of the prior visits were weeklong stays. We loved it, all of it, including the magnificent call of the loons and the spectacular hatch of the aquatic Hex flies that stimulates the trout to bite big time. We enjoyed our home cooked meals, the ambiance of the lakeside setting truly enhances the dining experience. Making good use of the boat that comes with the rental of the house, I caught many fish that consisted of rainbow and brook trout as well as smallmouth bass. The boating attendant came each day to check the fuel and condition of the boat including pumping out the rainwater. The house had a new gas range and is now provided with WiFi. It was also nice to find all new screens on the sliders. Tom, our host for the week was especially helpful as we planned our activities and future reservations. The entire staff is special. It is a pleasure to do business with them.

Room Tip: The descriptions of each room, cabin, cottage or house are very helpful.

John -

Thank you again for your comments and for coming back to stay with us this summer, and I'm glad that you enjoyed your time over at Bess. There's many ways to relax when you're here on our lake, the good June fishing and the excellent wildlife watching are just a couple of the ways to forget about the real world. Add a spectacular sunrise, and it's easy to see why Bess is a special getaway for our guests.

Thanks again John and we look forward to hosting you again in the future.

Great escape from the work world! Very clean and comfortable. Restaurant was excellent. Would certainly recommend this property to my friends. Fishing was so so. We caught mostly stock trout. We spent one day on the first conn. but no luck. Oh well.

Room Tip: Stayed at tamarack . Beautiful view and close to lodge and boats

Hi Rick -

Thank you for reviewing our lodge and restaurant and for your very kind comments on your recent stay with us. We're glad that you had a good time and were able to get some relaxation in - there's something about the view of the lake that will do that to you.

We have had some slow fishing to start the season up here, mostly as a result of our late departing winter, but the trout fishing should pick up when the weather gets better.

Have a great summer ahead and we hope to have you stay with us again very soon.

Regards,

Tom Caron
