Beautiful atmosphere. 4 adults, 4 kids all had great meals. I had whole bellies and scallops. I was eating the ocean. Chowder was just as good. Eat here.

Highly recommended by our hotel staff person for a seafood lunch with a water view. We tried it...we liked it. The food was very good. My lunch companion ordered the River House Spinach Salad which consisted of Fresh American baby spinach topped with sliced button mushrooms, chopped bacon, tomatoes, red onions, carrots, croutons, and hard boiled egg. It was served with a side of their house prepared Avocado Ranch dressing which was delicious. She added an 8 oz. Salmon Filet which was perfectly prepared as requested and excellent. They have an item on the menu called Ships Plate. The Tall version is a 6 inch Maine Lobster Roll with a cup of Seafood Chowder and hand cut potato chips. The Small version is 4 oz. instead of 6 and $7 cheaper. The soup was loaded with seafood and very satisfying. The chips were splendid. I ordered the 4 oz. Lobster Roll and found it delicious, but unsatisfyingly tiny. Service was just fine and the water view a delightful plus. Definitely sit outside and I think it's a better choice for lunch than for dinner.

We spent the day with friends and lunch with a view is always nice. We waited maybe 5 minutes for a table for four. We all had some version of fish whether it was fried or broiled ... Shrimp, scallops and cod. The portions were good sized and the food not greasy. The service was very attentive. Nor did they encourage us to leave since we lingered a bit to chat. Would go back and recommend this for a casual lunch... Again with a view!

Went here for lunch and was not disappointed. Sat inside next to a window with a view of the deck and river beyond. My wife had chicken salad wrap w/ cranberries and walnut. She really liked this a lot! I am the seafood lover in the family so I ordered the lobster roll with a side of seafood chowder and a great (local) beer. This was a wonderful dining experience, the service was very friendly and prompt. The food was delicious and the view was priceless. After dinner, all the shopping was nearby so we had plenty of opportunity to walk off dinner... that was until we discovered there is a Stonewall kitchen around the corner :)
My wife and I are pretty picky and River House delighted us both. We will definitely be back.

The front desk at our hotel recommended the River House and after reading the TripAdvisor reviews we decided to give it a try. The place was on the river with a nice outdoor seating area. We were disappointed not to be seated outside but had a window view and as it turned out, it got very windy and those on the porch were getting jackets. We both had the "Small Ships Plate" a mini lobster roll, cup of seafood chowder, and homemade chips. It was very good though anyone who was hungry should order the "Tall Ships Plate" and get the larger lobster roll. We also tried the white sangria which was okay, but the glass was filled with ice and the taste was watered down.
