This was my 3rd time here and it was Delicious each time.
Here are my likes, entrees are so good and large portioned, BYOB is great even though we always forget to bring something. They have tried really hard to make you forget you are in a strip mall when inside.Prices are better than downtown portsmouth and even olive garden on some things
.Dislikes, The salad is mediocre, small portion(ok with me but maybe not others)no olives, just lettuce and a cherry tomato with 2 dressings at table.garlic bread was pretty good but tiny portions and not offered more, (again I don't care but olive gardens unlimited salad and bread sticks are what most people go there for, why not offer the same?) Even though they have put in some effort into the decor I would love to see some candles on the tables, the wall candles lit or replaced with soft lighting, A large firplace and some comfy leather furniture in front of it put in, ( check out the bratskellars remodel!) the place needs some romantic flickering ambiance and I think it could become a favorite.

I was very excited to try this restaurant out for a while no- but not as satisfied as i would have liked to have been. We went on a Tuesday night for a birthday celebration- there was only one other couple in the restaurant, we had a party of 10. We were there for almost 4 hours the service was terrible, the food took forever, and then they told us we had to put the birthday cake away we brought in- because they serve their own desserts and don’t allow anything to be brought in for food. By the time we were going to have the cake we were the only 10 people in the restaurant too- I would have thought they would make an acceptation since we had the knife and plates out and were ready to serve but they did not. None of us ordered "their" dessert and left to go down the street to another restaurant to have more drinks and enjoy the cake and celebrate. Food was good, but nothing I would go back for. It’s unfortunate

I'm not sure this review is actually legit since we were guests at an anniversary party, (my wife's uncle and aunt's 40th). As is customary, a set menu is agreed upon, and this menu featured a salad tossed with a simple vinagrette served family style, fried calamari accompanied by a potent cocktail sauce and dinner rolls brushed with a garlic butter as the appetizers. The main course included a pasta and veggie medley and two different parmagan dishes ; chicken and eggplant. The salad was ok. Nothing special. The rolls were actually a bit bland. The calamari was ok and the cocktail sauce was nice and robust. So while the appetizers were nothing special the entrees were. The veggie and pasta medley has a clean and honest taste to it. The broccoli was prepared perfectly and the pasta was al dente as it should be. The chicken parm was a winner too. A tender piece of roasted chicken with an excellent cheese blend. The only complaint was it was a bit oversauced. Saving the best for last, the eggplant parm. Never have I had an eggplant dish taste better than this one. It was outstanding. Service was, well, hard to judge. It really just consisted of spooning food from trays and bringing drinks. Very friendly staff. The layout is a bit stale in my opinion. Dark carpeting adds a sense of coldness to the overall atmosphere. I think carpeting in a restaurant is haven for foul air through previous stains and dust. I do want to come back here as a regular paying customer at some point. Their food and efforts on my intitial visit earned more of my business.

I had a two for one deal so a girlfriend and myself went to try it out. I called in advance to make sure i could use it and the man said i could. I get there and come to find out the woman said you didn't tell me over the phone you had this and you can't use it. I argued alittle but did no good. I paid for the over cooked soggy pasta and will never return. I hope this helps and they realize they need better customer service. Don't go and waste your time or money

Two days prior I had eaten at Cafe Med and ordered the same dish as I ordered at La Bella and there was no comparison. La Bella won hands down. Both places could do a better job with the bread but all in all, our party enjoyed our food and by bringing our own wine/beer it was a very inexpensive meal by Portsmouth standards. Stop here for dinner and then wander into Portsmouth for a stroll and gellato at Dolce Freddo at 90 Fleet Street.
