We had a lovely evening. Great atmosphere upstairs; intimate not overly noisy. It appears they have renovated since our last visit. Service was extremely personable but not overbearing. Everyone's food was perfectly prepared and we all fought over whose desserts were best (Brulee!). If your looking for the trendy, latest fad this is not for you. If you appreciate good french cooking and small attentive attention to details this is perfect.

We have been traveling in New England for the last couple of weeks, and Bridge Street Bistro is an incredible find! The service was excellent. She answered all of our questions and made wonderful wine pairings for each course. We loved the atmosphere, food, wine and service. Wish we lived in Portsmouth!

Ate here at 7 on a recent Friday with friends. Only 3 other tables occupied, unusual as it's a popular and successful operation. FOOD- as always Stefan is an excellent chef! Steak tender and en point! Grilled ocean perch sublime. Mussels meuniere, perfection. These guys know how to prepare food beautifully! Only question- the french bread is not right, come on!- with beach pea bakery doing a decent baguette there's no reason for it! Still it soaked up the meuniere sauce just fine. It's the grocery store variety. Have also eaten downstairs which is a wee bit less precious than upstairs. Recent changes have updated the place and menu. We were with a friend who talks a little loudly and felt like we were dominating the environment. Disconcertingly silent. Where is the light French jazz piped in to kill the conversations? A great choice and we had a ball. WAITSTAFF-They heard it was my birthday and a candle appeared in my profiteroles. Charming waitstaff. Check out the coupons on the net! An altogether excellent choice!

Tonight was our 43rd anniversary, and with so many great restaurants we had decisions to make for dining out. Cafe Mirabelle had been an old favorite, so we decided to visit the chef at his old locale and new name. We are glad we did. You know how easy it is to forget the good places when new restaurants keep tempting you with something different? We had forgotten how good this place was! We sat outside in their small courtyard. The chef had a tasting plate hors l'oeurves of chicken liver mousse, country pate, and tuna. Plenty for the two of us and had us wanting to keep eating just that! Our entrees were Bouillabase (lovely saffron broth -- so subtle but excellent) and I had chicken breast Mirabelle, served with lobster and asparagus. Yummy. Profiterole for dessert. Large wine selection, fresh coffee. Very knowledgeable and attentive staff, even though we were the only ones seated in the courtyard (how romantic is that?) Try them, you won't be sorry.

We just had a 50th birthday celebration for my sister at the newly re-invented Bridge Street Bistrot (formerly Cafe Mirabelle). Michael, our waiter, was great throughout the whole evening - attentive, helpful with the menu, funny - couldn't ask for more - Impressive, since it was a Saturday night in the middle of summer and the place was hopping! He was most helpful in working through the various requirements at out table - a vegetarian, 2 gluten-free diners and one child with finicky taste. The table favorites were the gazpacho (lived up to the great description by Michael), the bouillabaisse - subtly flavored and soooooo good! And finally, the chocolate torte with orange rum sauce - yum! We loved every minute of it, and highly recommend Bridge Street Bistrot. Incidentally, we dined at the wine bar downstairs because upstairs was booked. We really liked being down there. For most of the evening, we felt that we had the place to ourselves.
