Right near the historic part of Portsmouth, this restored old building has charm, convenience and comfort. The place is immaculate. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay tremendously!

Great decor and charming place. We stayed in the loft room which was really unique and recommended. only negative was that the breakfast room was under proportioned and the continental breakfast was a bit of a lower standard than the rest of the place. Still worth a visit.

Hello Denin,
Thank you again for your recent stay with us. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback here. We have made several modifications to our lineup each morning of complimentary pastries, fresh fruit, and beverages. As we are not permitted by the City of Portsmouth to have a full commercial kitchen in our historic home, our offerings are restricted to a continental selection. We look forward to having you back again to historic downtown Portsmouth.
With Regards,
Doug

This Hotel Portsmouth is located at the intersection of great service (kudos to Chris and team for everything from a warm welcome to an ample breakfast!), high quality design (perfect mix of handcrafted architectural detailing and modern look and feel) and convenience (a beautiful place on the ocean to rest and dine after a day of sun and surf without the grit of a beach front hotel). Book a room and enjoy a most memorable visit to Portsmouth.

Room Tip: Spring for a deluxe queen or king and enjoy a large, well appointed room with plenty of space to mov...

We just returned from our vacation today, but I didn't want to wait to write my first review ever of a hotel. We absolutely loved our stay at this perfectly located, immaculate, and well run hotel. From the friendly and helpful staff, to the beautifully appointed public rooms, to the fantastic linens and comfort of our beds in one of the king suites, we were happy with everything! A couple of the charming touches we loved.... the chess board and books in the library front room, the working old time phone booth on the ground floor, and the excellent soaps, shampoo, and body washes we were provided with for our three day stay. Our king suite was very comfortable. I would also like to mention that we were only able to connect our computer to the internet once, so if you are travelling on business and need continuous service, that may be an issue. I never asked at the desk if there was a way around the problem, but it wasn't a pressing problem for us. We were too busy enjoying the beautiful city of Portsmouth. There is an ipad in each room, loaded with local activities and dinning choices, that was hooked to the internet most of the time, and a computer downstairs available for guests to use. The second thing I would mention is the lack of coffee available in the hotel. There are no coffee pots in the rooms and no coffee available in the kitchen (although there is hot water for tea) except at breakfast time. There are several places around town where you can get coffee to go, however. Neither of these things would stop us from staying here again in the future. I highly recommend this hotel.

A small hotel that featured a great location walking distance to all parts of Portsmouth. Great bed and linens! Weather gave us opportunity to use the Dyson fan provided. Basic continental breakfast w cereal, breads, yogurt and fruit.

We just retuned from a stay at the Hotel Portsmouth, and we loved everything about it. Great customer service, beautiful building/grounds, convenient location, and delicious breakfast. There are so many little touches to admire.

My husband and I spent the night in the Loft Room and had the most incredible time. The room was designed with a mix of modern, retro, and antique elements. Our room was tucked away on the third floor with a sitting area and bathroom. Up a small set of stairs was the bedroom and bathroom with a clawfoot soaking tub. We loved the ipad mini included in the room for music and web access. We did not feel like we were in a hotel however, the Hotel Portsmouth has hotel amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful. We did not want to leave. We can't wait to return with our children and another get away for just the two of us. It is in walking distance to downtown Portsmouth. There is a nice large parking lot for cars. Highly, highly recommend this hotel for families, couples, or business.
