“Great value, great food”

Double cheeseburger with everything on it and a pouting side...awesome! The burger was delicious and was such a value. The poutine was a great compliment. I can't wait to go back.

“Great greasy food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

The cheeseburgers and fries with brown gravy were great at 11pm after a long flight and drive into town. Everyone else had been out partying, we were the only sober ones and we still thought it was tasty.

“Great place for some not so good for you food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013 via mobile

Fun little dive to stop in for a quick, inexpensive bite to eat. Gravy fries are awesome. Hamburgers and hot dogs are small but good. $13 will get you 2 burgers and fries. Careful if you're taking your wife or kids in late at night, lots of people who have had a few too many drinks at the local bars like to frequent this place. Adam Richman from Man vs. Food ate here. Worth a stop if you're in Portsmouth.

“Amazing Lunch or Late Night dining!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2013

Gilley's is a historic diner spot in Portsmouth. We used to make late night trips here in college and I still return currently on trips to Portsmouth. Basic menu with foods from the grill, burgers, dogs, french fries. Can get them anyway you like it. If you're feeling hungry or need to fulfill a late night snack craving on a cheap budget come here. Not the healthiest of options but we got three hot dogs, an order of fries and a drink for under 9 bucks!

Perfect place for families looking for a good amount of food to fill the entire clan at a low budget price. Minimal seating but it's inside a caboose with bar stool. Great quick, cheap option to check out next time in Portsmouth.

“Iconic Diner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2013

If you are a diner aficionado then this place can not be missed. The only one of the five left built in 1940 and being in this location for almost 40 years a trip to Portsmouth is not complete without coming here.
I don't need to repeat other terrific reviews but my only minor personal comment (not really a complaint) is that I prefer my chili more meaty and thick as opposed to less beany and watery as this was.
