“A local landmark-average burgers”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

The venue is better than the food. Its great for college and young crowd for late night eats. The cook is very friendly and there is great history in this mini spot, but don't expect a gourmet meal.

Once a horse-drawn lunch cart in Market Square, Gilley’s PM Lunch was moved to Fleet Street in 1974. Then, in 1996, a wing was added. The lunch cart was attached to its storage trailer.

The entrance has a unique door; it’s a pocket door that slides sideways into the wall.

The interior is small. There are several stool seats around the interior of the compartment on the left in the above photo of Gilley's.

Gilley’s frequently wins in New Hampshire Magazine’s voter-determined Best of New Hampshire for Best Hot Dog. Although known for steamed hot dogs, Gilley's will serve grilled.

The hamburgers are also excellent. They're so much better than the fast-food chain hamburgers!

Other menu items include poutine, fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, fried egg sandwiches, and a breakfast sandwich, sausage gravy with a biscuit, and chili.

I’ve eaten here numerous times. On my most-recent visit, I had a hamburger at $3.25. The hamburger is ground fresh daily. At Gilley’s, the best way to have a hamburger is with onions and ketchup; and, that’s the way I took mine. As usual, it was excellent as the 2½ oz hamburger it was. It hit the spot for a light lunch.

It's a great place to stop by for lunch or a late-night meal.

In the better weather, there's a picnic table out back for eating outdoors where hot dogs and hamburgers always seem to taste better.

“Great eats”
Reviewed 9 December 2013 via mobile

Beat burger or cheese burger. But if you go when the clubs close or at meal times expect to wait. I think there a total of 10 seats. But it's worth the wait. Almost everything is great and worth the wait, e a especially late at night.

“Not what it used to be...”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

I have loved Gilley's all my life (I grew up in Portsmouth) but my recent trip there was disappointing. We swung by Gilley's to buy some "Gilley Dogs" to take to our hotel to watch the World Series. Gilley's was not busy and we got our food right away. When we got to the hotel and "dug in" we discovered the hot dogs were not fully cooked...they were luke warm on the outside and cool on the inside. You could tell they were almost raw. We were not about to leave the World Series to walk back and have them fix it, so it put a real damper on the night as we ended up eating chips and such for dinner.
