“Slightly overpriced but doable”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

The former Route 125 Motel, now Sunset Village Motel, hasn't had reviews since 2011. We were heading south from Maine and stopped here. The exterior isn't bad. The room was $80 with tax, but they take a $50 deposit on check-in, for unknown reasons. There appeared to be several live-ins on the property, but the room was clean. The freezer compartment was iced over with no door so our travel water for our food did not re-freeze. I'm including the shower shot. This was really the only glaring thing that needs to be addressed. The room had a decent paint job, a dresser, picture on the wall. They look like they are trying. We slept ok and were on our way.

the beds were not even made when we arrived. Green sheets on bed so you dont see the dirt. Giant pee stain on the comforter. Towels were cranberry so they were not bleached and had an odor. The room smelled like smoke but was non smoking. The woman that was running the place for her boyfriend was rude and dirty looking . The medicine cabinet still had a styrofoam cup from christmas with bugs in it . Didn't dare to go barefoot rug was falling apart and dirty. Chairs to the table had spokes missing in the back. Mattresses were stained. The office is always closed the number on the door is the person that runs it is her cell phone number and she is not out cleaning rooms. If she calls this clean, I would hate to see what she calls dirty

The bathroom was very dirty. Hair everywhere on floor and walls. No hand towels. Sheets and towels burgundy so you know they don't get bleached. The towels were falling apart. The beadspreads were filthy. We did not even dare touch anything, or walk barefoot.

I would suggest you change your beadspreads, buy white sheets and towels (hand towels too) and fire you house keeper cause she will cost you your business.

The room was dirty when I checked in and the maid didn't clean it while I was out all day. The curtain on the door didn't completely cover the window for privacy. The bedsheets were mismatched and the wrong size for the beds. The rooms are cheaper than other rooms in the area, but the old adage "You get what you pay for" applies here.

I landed in this hotel for the money, but I'll definitely go back.

The rooms had potential for being kinda funky, but they weren't. Nice fridge and microwave, exceptionally helpful and cheery staff, clean. Not deluxe for sure, but a good value and a pleasant night's sleep.

I was pleasantly surprised with this Motel. It's an older motel but freshly painted and spotless rooms. Very Nice Staff and management that went above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. I would recommend highly to anyone traveling from out of town on Business or just want to get away from it all!!

The area just inland in New Hampshire is a hard one for finding places to stay. All the motels and hotels are either on the Rt. 1 corridor on the coast or further inland at the lakes and mountains. If you're in the Rochester area, your choice is either to drive 15 miles to Rt. 1, or select one of only a few places. For budget motels, Rt. 125 is one of the few choices. It is an old building, but has been cleanly re-modeled recently. The rooms are clean, hot water plentiful and there's cable television. It still has oddities, like very low ceilings and small rooms. Prices are not as low as perhaps they should be - there are cheaper digs 15 miles away on the more competitive Rt 1 corridor - but the place is clean. However, the management is hugely uptight. Here's just part of the registration form: "any charges that you have incurred while staying at this motel will automatically be charged to your credit card ... if any money is owed and not paid to us then we will be forced to call the police and then see you in court so we can collect the money owed." More such nastily-worded rules and regulations are posted in the room itself. There is no coffee or breakfast at all. Seems like it may be run by a very clean but stingy and ill-tempered person. The desk clerk was okay. The guests on a midweek night were quiet and okay, but perhaps they have a lot of welfare guests as towns around here do tend to stick the homeless in motels when there's no other option. I didn't see that on my visit, but why else the menacing signs and forms? It's a tolerable choice if you're stuck in the Rochester area, but certainly not a welcoming establishment.
