“You got for what you paid”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

We asked for 2 full beds, and we received an apartment with 2 queen beds, flat screens, full bath, fridge and microwave. Room updated, and no clean. you can find hair everywhere. Disgusting, but we paid $55 for the night with breakfast.

I stayed at this establishment for about a week last fall and was treated like a VIP ! The staff bent over backwards to assist me in every way. They made me feel like a member of their family and not just a customer. I only wish that I could have had my wife with me. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the northern Boston area as well as southern New Hampshire and Maine. Again, thanks to the hotel staff for a memorable week last November. Keep up the good work !

Room Tip: Get a suite with a Jacuzzi !

The hotel was a wonderful place to stay. I stayed there for 2 nights and the hotel room was like an apartment instead of your average rooms that you usually get. The staff was extremely nice and they have a good complimentary continental breakfast. I will stay there again and recommend anyone else to visit that hotel.

Room Tip: I enjoyed my room in 211

Three of us stayed one night before a fishing trip in what I suppose is called a "suite." The larger room had a queen bed and a pull-out sleeper and the smaller bed had a queen. The price was extremely reasonable for the area we had--a real bargain on a per square foot basis. A free hot breakfast was included--scrambled eggs and sausage as well as the ubiquitous make your own waffle iron and healthy alternatives like yogurt, fruit and cereal. As other reviewers have noted, the common areas and carpets could use updating, but I prefer the bargain price to new carpets. We were on the first floor, highway side and I suggest that anyone staying there requests a room that is not on the first floor and not on the highway side. It was pretty noisy.
All in all, it is a decent place to stay, but probably not where you'd want to honeymoon.

Room Tip: Highest floor available and as far from the highway as possible.

This hotel is a true mixed bag. It is dated, but mostly clean. Some things are overdue for attention, others are suprisingly better than i expected. Diane was very helpful when i and two 12 year olds arrived to find out the pool was closed. She called area hotels with indoor pools to check rates for us, and once we decided to stay at the Hampshire inn, she gave us an additional discount (from an already discounted rate we had) in addition to an upgraded room for both nights we stayed. Here are the pros and cons:

PROS:

*Staff, especially Diane, were outstanding.
*Breakfast was good. Bacon one day, Sausage another. Eggs, homefries, in addition to the usual waffles/pastries/breads and cereals.
*Updated Flat Screen TVs in both rooms of our suite.
*Old appliances and furnature (25-30 year old fridge/microwave and furnishings), but mostly clean and the couch looked new.
*Good quality newer towels and sheets.
*Looks like a newer heat/ac system

CONS:

*Pool area was closed
*The bedspreads and blanket were filthy on both beds, spare blanket was also terribly dirty. We did not use them, however, as previously mentioned, the sheets looked new, and were fine.
Walls in room were clean and damage free, but unappealing bright blue wierd patterned color was strange. Felt cold, not warm and inviting. No Pictures on walls.
*Internet was terrible-virtually unuseable.
*Although new Flat screen TVs, they do not have HD programming running to them (only SD)
*Pillows were flat, so bring your own!

FINAL WORD:

I get the feeling they are running on a tight budget, and going by the old saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it" The furniture and appliances are not broke, and it was clean and worked, so that did not bother me. They upgraded the TVs which is nice, but didnt spend the extra $10 to get the HD programming? If you need internet, stay elsewhere until they fix this issue. My room was 30-40 feet from the front desk, and i had virtually no service. Please paint the walls! I would NOT take a girlfriend/wife here for a romantic getaway until they warmed up the room. It looks soooo cold in there with these oddly painted walls, it is not warm or inviting. One false move and you will be sleeping alone on the couch while she gets the bed! Housekeeping does a very good job, but appears that they have been told not to wash bedspread and blankets to save money or something. No lie when i say they do not look like they have been cleaned in a year! Right now, as it sits, this place is worth maybe $50 per night, but if you fix the the pool, clean the blankets, fix the internet, and paint the walls, it would be worth $100/night, maybe more during peak season. I get the feeling that the staff does the best that they can with what they are given, and the reason this hotel fails is simply because they are not given enough to make it a success.

This is a nicely presented hotel. Our room was very comfortable with a kitchenette area. Breakfast was really high quality with heaps of choices - continental or cooked or waffles with raspberries and cream! Good location.

Location is hard to find as the address is a side street and is accessed only one way due to highway center curb. Value was good and price was good for the area. I would stay again if in the area. Limited service for handicapped persons so if handicapped, should avoid this hotel. It did have working WiFi when I was there.

Room Tip: Now room service due to no restaurant. Breakfast is comp. but is limited. Coffee machine was broke...
