“A very relaxing place to stay.”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

While one might not be impressed by the exterior of this inn, once you get inside, you will change your mind. It is a nice place.

On the first floor is the dining area and a large comfortable living room with a big fireplace. Very relaxing place to read or enjoy a board game.

Our room was on the second floor and was clean, comfortable and tastily decorated. The bed was very comfortable and because of the pleasant weather, we slept with our windows open.

The owners are excellent hosts and provided filling, yet delicious breakfasts during our weekend stay. So filling that we were able to skip lunch.

If, when you arrive, you are not greeted right away, just read the sign and follow the string. It is a fun way to find your room.

We are so glad that you found your stay here to be relaxing. We try so hard to make our Inn a laid back and stress free place to escape the every day life. Love that enjoyed both the historical manor home exterior and interior. Our unique self check in system has everyone smiling, so glad you loved that touch as well. We are very proud of our Inn and look forward to seeing you again - Mike

My boyfriend and I were in need of a celebratory, relaxing weekend away so booked a weekend at the Tartan Fox. We were very happy with the accommodations, breakfasts, and hospitality by Mike himself. Not having done too much planning ahead, Mike gave us a variety of recommendations for our daily adventures. We took advantage of the proximity to Monadnock for an exhilarating hike to the top and later enjoyed a relaxing day of canoeing at the Ashuelot River Campground. We also shared a wonderful experience at the Walpole Mountain View Winery nearby!

Great weekend overall! Would highly recommend staying here!

We were so happy to have been able to offer enough ideas of what to do here in the Monadnock region for your visit. The wonderful thing about this area is that it has so much to offer, year round. Thank you so much for the kind words regarding our gourmet breakfast. We look forward to seeing you again!

My wife and I stayed over a long weekend in July 2014. We stayed in a first floor room, as that suited our needs. The room is quite handicap friendly. There are a few steps entering the Inn which there may be a way to avoid. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding. The hosts were especially knowledgeable, and helpful. There is even a piano for you to play in the living room. We came to the area to attend multiple classical music festivals : Apple Hill, Yellow Barn, Marlboro, Monadnock etc. With a bit more travel, you could attend the Bennington, Killington, Green Mountain, Central Vermont, Craftsbury , Tanglewood festivals. In addition, the MOCA Museum in North Adams, and Jocobs Pillow Dance festival are a short drive. Just a peaceful , restful haven. Walt .

It was such a joy having you both, and coming home to find you playing the piano! I especially enjoyed speaking with you regarding music and the arts, and look forward to having you here again.

Upon driving into the driveway the yard to the bed and breakfast was so refreshing. There were many trees and flowers to enjoy. Inside the Inn was kept very clean and the room was the same. Very impressive with how clean and comfortable. There was a beautiful breeze coming through the windows so it wasn't hot even though it was outside. The owner Mike was one of the nicest innkeepers, he was helpful in so many ways. I won't forget our time at this inn and perhaps if we decide to go over to the west side of NH again we will book a stay.

Room Tip: Our room had two windows that faced the road so there was some road noise. The room we were in was t...

Although any review that is positive is a joy to read, I personally am always touched by ones from our NH neighbors. Your kind words mean so much to us, as there are so many lovely B&B's in New England, and praise from a neighbor is very special. We look forward to seeing you again!

Our stay at the Tartan Fox was phenomenal. The inn itself was cozy and inviting with a spacious room and beautiful property. The sitting room is one of the most beautiful that we have seen. Breakfast each morning was delicious and unique, sustaining us well into the afternoon and even until dinner. YUM! The inn's location was extremely convenient, affording numerous opportunities for activities in any direction, yet also provided a quiet retreat for resting on a rainy afternoon. Mike is a fantastic innkeeper with great attention to detail. We can't wait to return as soon as we are able. A++!!

This was our first stay at the Tartan Fox. Our room was cozy and inviting. The breakfasts were amazing, especially the scones and eggs benedict. We didn't need to eat lunch in our four day stay. The wi-fi in our room was great too. The inn was located near everything we wanted to do in the area. The only thing we regretted was not having more time to spend there.

Four comfy rooms, each with a private bath, so you won't be sharing with other guests. You won't find rows of flowers lined up like soldiers, I take a more free hand approach. Volunteers grow where they pop up, weeds are pulled, and we try to have habitat that caters to our many species of song birds. The Meadmere Home is a gorgeous older structure that was built in 1832 and most recently housed the studio of Norma Stafford, an artistic icon to the Keene area. We enjoy keeping that tradition by maintaining a local artisan gift shoppe on the premises that showcases local Monadnock artistry. ... more   less
