I stayed here with my family for a weekend, and we had a very nice stay! It was relaxing, and fun. Cottage 5 was very cute and clean. We enjoyed the pool and playground. The store across the street was very convienient and not that expensive. The owners were very nice, and welcoming! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone!

We stayed in Cottage #5 at the end of July/early August 2012 for 7 nights. As advertised, Cottage #5 has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a Queen bed and one with 2 Singles, which was perfect for the two teenagers we were travelling with. While the location was at the Northwest tip of the White Mountains, it wasn't terribly far from anything we wanted to do - 15 minutes to Littleton, 1/2 hour to Lincoln or Gorham, 45 minutes to North Conway area or Mount Washington. The cottages are set back from the highway a distance, which is good, as the Route #3 Highway they are on is a thoroughfare for trucks, especially early in the mornings. The grounds and recreation areas are very well kept, and is quite a large area for kids to play in. The pool is very clean and refreshing. Safe for kids as the edges are plastic instead of concrete, the pool walls are rubberized, and outdoor carpet covers half of the sitting area (although this may cover up some cracks in the concrete area).

The cottage itself was fine, but quite 'rustic', and somewhat older than the internet pictures make it seem. Everything was clean, but the stove, fridge and shower stall had some rust on them that could not be cleaned, and made them appear dirty at first glance. As a previous post indicated, we also found some minor garbage under the bed that had not been cleaned from a previous guest (although nothing like they found). it appears that Cottages #2 - #5 have the same basic layout. One feature we found annoying was both bedrooms have a door that leads into the bathroom. No big problem, just made for some awkward moments with two teenagers and not being sure if anyone was in the bathroom.

While we were there it was quite hot during the day, mid to high 80's. Because there was no shade late in the afternoon, it was extremely warm making and eating supper, whether indoors or out (BBQ). We knew the cottage did not have air conditioning, but even though the temperatures dropped at night, we found it very difficult to get the heat out of the cottage. One feature that would have helped immensely would have been a screen door. We either had to close the door or, if we left it open to get a breeze, flies would get into the cottage. The Cottage has 3 fans to try and keep the air moving. As with a previous post here, one of the fans was disgustingly dirty (the other two were clean). The bathroom shower stall is very small, and very short. There is a large closet in the main bedroom that holds the furnace and hot water heater, and we used it to store our suitcases and cooler. Very convenient. There are two TV's, which are small and old syle, but then we weren't there to watch TV, so I can't even comment on the channels they receive.

The owners are very responsive and helpful. Never an issue changing our towels or having our garbage picked up in the morning. Cottage #5 is closest to the motel portion, and Cottage #1 is closest to the woods. There is no daily housekeeping service, but as advertised, we did receive a mid-week "freshen up".

There is a "General Store" across the road that truly sells everything you might need. Even firewood as our cottage has a private fire pit out back, which was great for a fire each night.

Overall we had a great time in the White Mountains, and the cottages were part of that. This review is not intended to be negative, but just to point out to other readers all the good and not-so-good points we found. Would we return? I think so, although I might be tempted to book Cottage 2 or 3, which have air conditioners.

I recently stayed at Carroll's after a recommendation from a family member and i have to say that the place was okay but i was deeply disappointed at the way we were treated from the beginning of arriving and how my family was lied to in regards to renting a cottage/motel per Cindy that they were booked when during our entire stay we noticed that there were 2 sites that were empty the three nights that we stayed. We were a big group but half of us stayed at Profile Cottages to which the people were much nicer and treated us with respect. I come from a multicultural family and I would never recommend this place to people from other nationalities.

Im sorry that you feel that I lied to you but I would have been more than happy to explain in detail our reservations or what was going on with our property to you if you had a question and as I mentioned twice we did have motel rooms available during your stay. I wish we would have been able to help you out with another cottage. When you arrived with alot more people than what was stated on your reservation we were very concerned about the cottage capacity which relates to fire safety. It seemed as you all had fun and it was great having your group here.

My family rented number 4 cottage. When we first arrived we thought the cottage was great, and felt homey! The descripton of cottage was 2 bedroom with a queen bed in each room, and a pullout couch has a gas fire place inside and grill and fire pit outside which was nice. We got this cottage because it wasn't near somthing I don't recall, but our cottage was near everything park, pool, all outside activities. Not a big deal. Also the dini.g room table was super sticky with my mom having ocd when it comes to cleaning, cleaned table at keast 20 times! Still sticky, and massive dirt everytime we tried cleaning. Then we had no ac but there were metal fans in sach room that had massive dust lint on them so we cleaned it as good as possible. But it gets even better. My son who is 3 lost a shoe so we looked everywhere couldn't find it. Looked under my bed and there were two half full milk bottles eweee gross. So after finding that nasty crap we looked under all beds and found 2 half eaten sausages under the futon!!!! My mom has bein a house keeper for over ten years and stated that is one of the first thing a house keeper does is check under beds. We stayed 7 dsys had no house keeper, and the cottage was cleaned better when we left. Looks may be deceiving I thought cottage was great until we found that mess under beds. I did not let owner kno. The groundss are great cottages aand stuff to do. For the price it was great, but housekeeper cleaner was teffible Sofry

We recently stayed here with our 3 boys. Check in was smooth. We reserved a motel unit which consisted of 2 rooms. Our kids love the fact that there is a partition they can close and they feel like they have there own room. In their room it consisted of 2 twin beds and the bathroom. In our room we had a bed with a small fridge and sink area and couch. Both rooms had their own tv's. The rooms are very clean. The sheets smell so clean & fresh. The grounds are also very well maintained. We did use the pool which again was very clean. The kids had a ball as well as the other guests that were using it. There were plenty of chairs for everyone to sit and they even had music piped in. My only suggestion would be to turn the music up a little bit. We could hear it when it was just our family but when other people came you could not hear it. There were plenty of playground equipment for the kids. Everything was in good shape and they were slides and play structures for kids of all ages. We enjoyed out stay here and plan on returning on out next trip to the area.

I stayed in cottage #15 (Winter Cottage), it is cozy with 3 double beds (2 bedrooms). The first bedroom is quite small while the 2nd is much bigger, both rooms are off the dining/living room, next to it is the small kitchen with the 3 piece bathroom. My bed was comfortable and the cottage was clean. We had a small glitch as the shower head broke during our stay but it was quickly repaired by the owners, Cyndi & Brian (Owners) are really nice and helpful. As my title state, the motel is located near everything, less then 30 min drive to Conway, Littleton and Mount Washington. You can hike, shop and dine without travelling to much. Very nice region to visit.
