We just came back from our anniversary weekend away in Twin Mountains. We were looking for a nice quiet getaway and were not disappointed. Carlsons Lodge is kind of like bed and breakfast meets hotel. We had all the amenities we needed and wanted yet it was so clean, friendly and homey. The family that owns it is super friendly and always accomodating to any needs . We swam in the pool every day, went downstairs and played pool and shuffleboard. Our room was big and very clean. Lots of nice places to sit outside and just enjoy the view of the mountains. We will definitely go back.

The Museum of Science has been using Carlson's Lodge for the last three years as the home base for our annual Washburn Climb. Our hikers and volunteers love the friendly feel of the Lodge and the personal care that the family show to us. It is like a reunion from the moment we arrive. After a very long day's hiking, our group likes to sit on the porch and swap tales of the Presidential Traverse and their Single and Double climbs of Mt. Washington. Carlson's Lodge is the perfect place to unwind and relax, and to plan for next year's fundraising hike too. They offer great accomodation and invaluable advice!

We wanted a spot nearby after a day of exploring the forest and chose Carlson's Lodge based on reviews. We were definitely not disappointed! The setting is so quiet and peaceful, and incredibly convenient. We were able to check in early so that we could explore without watching the clock. The lodge is quaint and homey, with a beautiful view. Our room was spacious and quiet. We slept so well we didn't hear the alarm. Breakfast there was a great way to start the day, with pictures of past guests displayed at the tables great fun. Conversation with the owners and other guests made it even more enjoyable! We appreciated the tips on where to spot moose, even though we didn't get lucky and find one. Just one more reason for a return visit. When we do venture back, we'll definitely be guests at Carlson's!

I love the family setting, helpful staff, and convenient locale of this lodge. Reasonable rates, continental breakfast provided, game room and a pool to keep the kids busy. I couldn't ask for more. They are very helpful and personable, filled with local suggestions for food and fun. Definitely would recommend and visit again!

For those who have not stayed here you dont know what your missing. I have been comming to Carlsons for 30+ years (before the lodge was even there and was just cabins) and wouldnt think of staying anywhere when we are in the area. What has kept me comming back through the years you say.....the term "family establishment" is thrown around way to much and in some ways become meaningless. Not here though...I have always felt welcomed right from the phone call to say I was comming, right up to when it was time to go. My stays have varried from an overnight to whole week. The rooms in comparison to other places are oversized, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The continental breakfast is just enough to hit the spot in the morning and in my opinion after many trips around the globe (quite European) with cereal, toast, juice, coffee, and tea. If you are in the area Carlsons is a true "must stay place"..... a great staging area for all that the White Mountains have to offer, and a great retreat after a full days activities.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed our visit. Very clean rooms. Continental breakfast was lacking but really didn't mind as we had brought some food of our own. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Will stay again if up that way.

We recently spent two nights at Carlson's Lodge and found it very comfortable. The rooms were large and the water pressure in the shower was terrific after a long hike! The owner is very accommodating and extremely pleasant to deal with. She did allow our group to store some food items in the fridge. This lodge is very family oriented, which always makes for a pleasant stay. It was my first time visiting, but I know I will return in the near future without hesitation! The only negative thing that I could say was the continental breakfast was only coffee, tea, juice, toast and cold cereal. I plan on bringing my own breakfast food next time I come because we need more nourishment than that for our hikes, but I wouldn't consider it a major inconvenience.
