“Quaint little place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

We enjoyed our stay at Carlsons. It was comfortable and quiet. The owner put us at the end of the hall where it was quiet. Breakfast was minimal but ok. The owner recommended a great place for dinner, The Northern Embers.

We stayed here 3 nights in early October. We could not have been happier for making Carlson's Lodge our choice. We chose the end room upstairs with the kitchenette and everything was perfect. Carol, the owner, went out of her way to make us comfortable. A special thank you for the piece of birthday cake, complete with 2 candles, for my husband's birthday!

Room Tip: We loved room 209!

We were a little disappointed with our stay in the lodge. The room was clean and fit our needs ok, but it was not as nice as we expected. The lobby was a little dingy and old looking. The complimentary breakfast consisted of 3 kinds of cereal and peanut butter and bread. It was not served until 8:00, and we were always ready to take off before then so we did not take advantage of it. The walls were really thin. We could actually hear the conversation in the room next door, which took place until 2:00 in the morning, and we could hear anyone who was walking in the halls. The doors to the outside were locked at 11:00 and you had to use a code at a different door to get in. The woman at the desk was nice enough, but not available at all times. For the money, it was an OK room.

We really liked staying here, we stayed a week and it was very clean and comfortable. The price is extremely reasonable and the facilities are good. I was disappointed with the inability to access wifi in my room but overall the stay was good.

We stayed two nights at Carlson's Lodge and found the accommodations clean and comfortable. The location is good if you want to visit Franconia Notch or other White Mountain attractions. The innkeeper is very friendly and helpful with suggestions of local sights. They have a friendly dog on the premises. Coffee, cereal, and toast are included.

Room Tip: Second floor may be a little quieter than the first.

We often stay here when attending programs at the Highland Center or hiking from the trails there at Crawford Notch. It is only a 10 min drive away. Rooms at Carlson's lodge are squeaky clean and comfortable with a coffee maker in room if you cannot wait for the 8:00 very light breakfast in the Carlson's dining room. A common refrigerator for guests' use is on lower level. The experience has a nice b&b feel to it. Thanks to the lovely owner for looking after everyone's needs.

Just spent 14th wedding anniversary there, room was super clean and comfortable. We had large end room with kitchenette which was great. The location can’t be beat close to all major attractions. I would highly recommend accommodations as a “home away from home” after a busy day of sightseeing or adventure. The lodge is set back off road with spectacular mountain views, and would also be a great place for anyone who just wanted a quite relaxing vacation in the White Mountains. The management of lodge was very welcoming and provided tons of info on area sites and restaurants, and discounted tickets to some attractions. We will be back!!
