“Great place for a family reunion!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2013 via mobile

Our family stayed at the Inn along with 3 other families for a great New Hampshire farm weekend. We spread out between the Inn and two of the cottages. My family stayed in the smaller of the two cottages, while not as updated as the Inn and the larger cottage we had no complaints and loved loved loved the big bed (even the first night when our daughter got scared sleeping upstairs and joined us we hardly knew she was there). In the morning each day we got fresh milk, eggs and the most delicious assortment of muffins and breads ever (our family members in the Inn got a home cooked meal they say could not be beat, but between Jackie's breads and my wife's eggs I don't think we missed a beat).

The staff at the Inn was great helping us facilitate the reunion, moving tables and chairs and we even got a farm tour from one of their sustainable farm interns - including some newborn kittens in the barn. Jackie even went out of her way and dug an old bicycle out for my daughter after her cousins all showed up for the reunion with their bikes.

The Inn is just down the hill from Alyson's orchards (an easy walk) and when we got to the orchards and told them we were staying at the Inn, the folks at the orchard treated us as if we were staying on their own property.

All in all a great family weekend in the country at a great quiet farm with a great staff and great accommodations! As an added bonus a week after we left we got a letter from Jackie with $20 inside. My daughter had left it inside a card from her Poppy in the room. None of us knew we even left it there, but it was nice to get it back. We went to the Inn for a family reunion, we'll go back cause otherwise we won't see Jackie the newest member of our family!

18 people from my wife's side of the family, aged under 2 to 74, basically took over the Inn for a weekend and things could hardly have worked out better. We used all 4 rooms in the Inn and both cottages. Jackie was a wonderful hostess and we got quite an education about the farm, their methods of farming and animal care, and the area in general. Her breakfasts were incredible, the constant availability of beverages and cookies a big help with 5 children, and her intern's tour of the farm and all the animals a real highlight. The grounds were lovely, a nearby farm had great blueberry picking, the town of Walpole a few minutes away and Keene less than half an hour away. Plenty of activities are nearby, but staying put at the Inn was heavenly all by itself. It's not easy to find a place that works well for everyone in the family, but the Inn at Valley Farms got high marks all around!

We just returned to the Inn at Valley Farms for our wedding anniversary, having been married there a year ago. We could not have imagined a more beautiful setting or more impeccable hospitality than that the Inn.

The setting: rolling hills, classic New England farm (complete with a beautiful aging red barn and silos), weeping willows and flowers in the gardens, majestic views of animals at pasture, with the mountains beyond. Also conveniently located across the street from Alyson's apple and peach orchard and a five minute drive to Burdick's restaurant and chocolates. In short, a perfect New England wedding setting.

The food: features lots of local fruits, produce, farm-fresh eggs, and meat from the farm itself. Breakfasts are truly delicious, with beautiful touches like chocolate mint and edible violet garnishes. Don't forget to stock up on bacon, lamb, beef, chicken, and turkey at the farm store.

The hospitality: Jackie is thoughtful and attentive without being fussy. She was with every step of the way during our wedding weekend and preparations -- not only responsive, but anticipating needs we didn't even know we had! She took beautiful photos of our wedding, cleared our and decorated the barn at the last minute when the rain forced us out of the garden, leant us her gas grill for our Friday evening BBQ, and literally never missed a single detail. When we returned for our anniversary, she made a breakfast that intentionally echoed our wedding desserts, had beautiful flowers awaiting us in our room, and surprised us with champagne. A perfect host!

Jackie genuinely relishes providing guests with an extraordinary experience, whether for a weekend or an event. We can't wait to return year after year!

Me and my family stayed at Inn at Valley Farms for 2 Nights. From the moment I talk to the hostess Jacqueline on the phone, I felt that this farm was the right place for us, a Norwegian family with 2 children. When we arrived the farm, we got homemade coockies and soda. We stayed at the Garden Suite. 2 lovely rooms with private bathroom. The farm is very nice. Well-kept surroundings. After check-inn we went to see the chickens, cows, pigs, two cats and a nice dog. After a good night sleep, Jacqueline served us a delicous breakfast. Different homemade food every morning. And it was organic food which we appreciate very much. Jacqueline is a so wonderful and warm hostess, and it was a great pleasure to be her guests. Thank you very much. Lars Danielsen.

My husband and I were thrilled to enjoy a respite from a July heat wave in one of the cottages at the Inn. The cottage was immaculate, innkeeper's greeting warm and friendly, and well tended grounds very welcoming. We felt immediately at ease and comfortable. It was a delight to wake in the morning and stroll around the farm with a cup of "good" tea which was stocked in the kitchen. We travel frequently to ME. & VT., and are now VERY impressed with NH.

Room Tip: the cottage was just right for our needs

Green Features: I was able to compost my breakfast leftovers, echo friendly products used, the eggs were from free range chickens, and pasturized, it's a working farm using good enviornmental techniques.

Myself, my wife, 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter just spent 4 nights at the Inn. We stayed in Bellows Cottage. It is our second year. Jackie does a great job with the Inn. We receive fresh bread every morning. The cottage is well set up for a Family. Jackie has great suggestions to plan your day. Our best days were just being on the Farm with young children. They can explore the chicken coup, visit the Cows and Pigs or play in the beautiful back yard. We are city people. But once year we get to learn about organic farming from wonderful people. We love this spot and will return in the future.

The Inn at Valley Farms was the perfect location for our multi-generational family ranging from ages 7 - 70 for our Mom's 70th birthday celebration reunion get-away. Coming from many locations along the east-coast we stayed in the Farmhouse and both Cottages very comfortably sleeping 16 of us. The Farmhouse was the perfect gathering place where we grilled the farm-raised, grass-fed beef we purchased right there at the farm, played frisbee, horseshoes and made s'mores in the great fire pit. Jackie helped me identify all sorts of interesting greens and flowers from the garden for a delicious salad. Nearby hiking and lake for swimming were perfect activities, but of course, just exploring the farm itself was a thrill for all. Pigs, bull, cows, hens, chickens... One of the summer interns gave us a terrific tour showing us the inner workings of the farm, taking us right out into the cow pasture and pig pen! Nearby Walpole is so quaint with Burdick's chocolates not to be missed! We also travelled easily to Brattleboro for a nice dinner at Whetstone Station. Passing through Keene, NH going to and fro was also a lovely lunch stop-over with browsing shops. Note that in the cottages and farmhouse, the upstairs bedrooms require walking through the first to get to the second with curtain separators - not a problem for our family configurations but also not realized until we got there. Could be a problem for others, hence my 4 rating. Hospitality was terrific, but we also felt like we had nice privacy and space - never even saw the folks who were staying in the Inn. Would go back again and would recommend it highly for other families who enjoy the outdoors and just hanging out.

Room Tip: Bedrooms in upstairs cottages and farmhouse are not completely private from each other. Walk throug...
