There's nothing really amazing about this pond. It's the trip there that's the best part. Great views of nature along the way. I also wouldn't swim in Greeley Pond. I believe it does have leeches. Might be a good place to fish though.

In any case I recommend the hike whether starting in waterville valley or on the kankamagus highway.

We took the trail from the Kancamagus Highway up & down to the Upper Greeley Pond. It was a beautiful day in June when we went, with little wind. The pond itself is beautiful (see photo!). Take the hike (it's an easy trail, with one stream you need to cross early) and worth the time! The hike was 3.2 miles or so in length, so plan on a couple of hours!

This is a small pond in the center of Waterville Valley. You can rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. There is also a small beach. Not a destination beach.

We knew there was boating (Kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and SUP), but did not know how small the pond really is. Nice for a short trip, but do not go planning on spending a long time boating.

The rating applies to past hikes. The Waterville Valley access to this trail was severely damaged by Tropical storm Irene. Repairs are ongoing but the trail is closed. In the past this was a beautiful hike out to some secluded ponds. The trail was relatively easy and followed a stream that had some bridge crossings. I look forward to the day it re-opens. In the meantime there are many other beautiful hikes that originate in or near Waterville Valley and it is a great location to stay if you want to do a number of day hikes.
