We are frequent customers at the Schwendi Hutte at Waterville Valley. The menu is much more varoied than at any of the other mountain establishments. The food is made to order. The baked goods are some of the best we have ever had at a ski mountain restaurant. The staff id friendly and the views, on a clear day, are great!

The Schwendi Hutte was a highlight of our trip. It's at the top of the mountain and only accessible by lift. Downstairs is a comfy bring-your-own snacks area and restrooms. Upstairs it's a cozy mini-cafeteria. We shared a serving of the 'entree of the day' which was a HUGE serving of Shepherd's Pie. We also got hot cocoa. Other options were hot dogs, two soups, strudel, cookies, candy bars and a huge selection of beer. The day we were there, a rep from a local brewery was giving out samples.

It's worth stopping in for the lovely building. It's not huge, but everything is exposed beams and it's a great rustic feeling. The staff were typical Waterville staff - friendly, helpful and fun.

Great to hear you enjoyed our cozy mountain top restaurant. We do a lot of sampling up there and it's amazing when it warms up and you can also take in the great views. Hope to see you again soon!

The view is great...the food is okay...but if you should arrive after 2:30pm....no food no drinks no anything.... the staff is mostly interested in getting home and is more than ready to kick you out....sorry 2:31 no food / drink service. Even if you come early in the day the service is slow and sad. Time for a change of operators for this ski top restaurant. To great a place to waste on sad / poor operators.

What a fantastic setting. When you are skiing Waterville Valley. you can stop in near the top of the mountain and grab a hot drink and some lunch when it's cold outside. On a sunny day there is a deck. If you want scenery it doesn't get any better than this. The food is okay, but who cares. The scenery will take your breath away.

Oh Emm Gee -- where to begin. OK, you get to the mountain at 8, get geared up, do a run or two, then come to schwendi for a coffee and a sticky bun or cinnamon roll. All hand made, on premise. YUM. Ski some more, let the lunch crowd come and go, and get back in here around 1:15 for lunch. Specials of the day range from Jambalaya (so good), chili, vegetarian options like a sumptuous quinoa salad....all home made on premise and SO GOOD. But, hey, you're gonna need a dessert with that, right? How 'bout a brownie, chocolate chip cheesecake, or struedel. All home made on premise, and, what? SO GOOD. Nice service, decent amount of tables upstairs, and more tables, couches, and fireplace downstairs. If I'm at WV and you can't find me on the slopes, it's cause I've hunkered down in Schwendi.
